After helping Leicester City to a historic title victory nine years ago, Premier League champion Jamie Vardy may finally be on the move away from the club.
However, despite the fact that Vardy turned 38 in January, Premier League clubs that are looking to add a striker during the summer transfer window are considering him as a potential possibility.
Leicester became the first side in the history of English football to lose eight straight home games without scoring a goal when they were defeated by Newcastle United on Monday night. As a result of this loss, Leicester became the first team in English football history to accomplish this feat.
It is almost probable that they will be relegated back to the Championship, and their talismanic star is being connected with a move away from the King Power Stadium. This comes over ten years after his departure was initially anticipated in the aftermath of the triumph.
In the summer, Vardy will become a free agent, and according to Troy Deeney, a former striker for Watford, he will have the opportunity to find a new team to play for in England’s top flight.
As Deeney stated during his appearance on talkSPORT Breakfast, “It’s a punt when you’re just looking at his age.”
On the other hand, Jamie is in a fantastic situation since there are not many number nines in the whole of football, let alone in the Premier League.
“I could see him doing well at Everton or West Ham.”
Both Everton and West Ham were able to move away from the relegation race after replacing their managers this season. However, Leicester and their fellow members of the bottom three were able to assist them in their efforts.
Both of them, however, are lacking in goals from strikers, and it is quite likely that they will be looking to acquire a striker during the upcoming month-long transfer window.
“Jamie is one of those players and people where you hate him when you’re playing against him but if he’s on your team then you’d love him because he does all the horrible things,” said Deeney in conclusion.
“Let’s simply take West Ham as an example for this research. They have [Niclas] Fullkrug, and it is likely that they will attempt to get another striker. Therefore, it is wonderful that they have Jamie Vardy as either the third option or the second choice.
You are aware that as the season progresses, there will be opportunities for rotation, and there will also be opportunities for injuries; thus, I believe that he will be an excellent choice for a lot of teams.
The fact that he has won the Premier League, competed in Europe, and represented England is a fantastic addition to your team, and you should definitely consider this.
There is a prestigious 100 Club in the Premier League, and Vardy is a member of that club. Thierry Henry of Arsenal is the only player to have scored more goals for a single club than he has, and just 14 players have scored more goals in the Premier League than he has.
