As his Baller League team was engaged in a brawl, Chelsea and England veteran John Terry had a furious confrontation with referee Mark Clattenburg. The incident occurred while Terry was playing for his team.
The third gameweek of the Baller League continued with Terry’s 26ers playing F.C. RTW at the Copper Box Arena in London on Monday evening. This match marked the beginning of the third gameweek.
Both teams entered the match having suffered consecutive defeats in their first two matches of the competition. Terry’s squad was ranked tenth in the 12-team league, while their opponents were ranked ninth. Both teams were looking to rebound from their recent setbacks.
While Terry was kicking off with match referee Clattenburg, the battle quickly became heated as a number of players from both teams engaged in a major fight on the pitch. This occurred practically immediately from the beginning of the competition.
During the first half of the contest, Terry’s 26sers were able to gain an early lead and then manage to increase that advantage before allowing their opponents to get back into the game, which resulted in a score of 2-1 between the two teams.
Josh Harrop, a former player for Manchester United, made a terrible challenge in the second half to prevent Sak Hassan of the 26ers from making a break on the left wing. This was the moment when tempers began to really heat up.
The dubious challenge quickly led to players from both teams throwing caution to the wind and getting into a major fight on the pitch. As a result, a player from each team was given a temporary suspension despite the fact that they were involved in the fight.
Within a few minutes, Terry yelled at the referee of the match, Clattenburg, about a ruling that looks to include the 26ers being required to drop the ball and transfer possession of the ball to their opponent.
According to a video that was shared on social media, the legendary player for Chelsea can be heard yelling, “I’m doing your job.”
In accordance with the regulations of the Baller League, Terry and Clint 419, the manager of the opposing team and an internet personality, are permitted to utilise one referee challenge during the match. However, in the end, the former England captain decided not to use it on this particular circumstance.
The F.C. RTW took advantage of the pandemonium that occurred during the second half by scoring an equaliser just a few seconds after Terry’s diatribe. However, they were unable to recover and fell farther down quickly after that.
However, the match was ultimately decided by a score of 3-3, becoming the first tie in the league since it began three weeks earlier. The encounter was a hard-fought contest.
