During the Manchester derby that took place on Sunday, there is new evidence that has surfaced showing Manchester United supporters screaming terrible insults about Phil Foden’s mother.
In the course of the match between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford, which ended in a scoreless draw, Foden, who is 24 years old, was treated to disrespectful shouts from sections of the home crowd.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, issued a statement condemning the chanting after the game, stating, “Lack of class.” You do realise that it is not United that is the problem, do you? For those of us who are involved in international football, particularly managers, owners, and football players, we are always exposed to the screen.
“Honestly, I don’t understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil, it’s a lack of integrity and class, and they should be ashamed…”
In his post-match social media post, Foden did not reference the events that occurred during the match.
On Monday, Troy Deeney provided an intriguing perspective on the matter, elaborating on how he believes the problem has become a “bigger story than it needs to be.”
“It’s been made a bigger story because Pep’s brought it to everyone’s attention,” the former Watford captain disclosed in an interview with talkSPORT. “Pep’s brought it to everyone’s attention.”

In recent months, Foden has had a difficult time regaining the form he had during the previous season. As a result, he has received a great deal of criticism for his performances for both England and City.
During the 2023–24 season, the 24-year-old was one of City’s brightest stars, as he recorded 27 goals and 13 assists in 53 games. This is in contrast to the current season, when he has only 10 goals and six assists.
Additionally, Guardiola acknowledged the player’s recent performances during his news conference that took place after the match.
“Phil, there is no doubt; I see every training the passion, the smile on his face,” he further stated. What I am looking for is this… Obviously, the influence has not been.
