Troy Deeney gives stunning take on insulting chants directed at Phil Foden during Manchester derby

In response to the question of what he thinks about Phil Foden being subjected to abuse during the Manchester derby, Troy Deeney provided another fascinating perspective.

During the Premier League match that ended in a scoreless tie on Sunday, Foden, who is 24 years old, was treated to horrible insults against his mother by a minority of Manchester United supporters playing in the match.

Immediately following the game, Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, was quick to criticise the abusive chants, saying, “Lack of class.” But as you probably well know, it’s not United; it’s the people. For those of us who are involved in international football, particularly managers, owners, and football players, we are always exposed to the screen.

“Honestly, I don’t understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil, it’s a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed…”

The matter has not been directly addressed by Foden as of yet, and it is not apparent whether he will do so. However, on Monday morning, Troy Deeney, a former forward in the Premier League, offered his perspectives on the topic, and his comments came as a surprise.

During the talkSPORT Breakfast program, Deeney stated, “Unfortunately, it is a part of the game.”

I’ve heard people say things about my children, my wife, and anything else you can think of. “It is what it is.”

“Look, I understand what Pep is saying; it is a reflection on society. Everyone lives in a relatively glass house, and they like to look out and point and say things like, ‘you’re rubbish, this and that.'”

On the other hand, I also believe that because it is a derby, people are emotional… When you talk about someone’s mother, you never want it to be that such is the case.

Adds Deeney, “It’s just a normal part of playing football.”

According to my point of view, this is a more significant story than it ought to be.

According to the explanation provided by the former Watford captain, “Pep has brought it to everyone’s attention, which has resulted in it becoming a bigger story.”

“As I was watching the game, I was well aware of it. The unpleasant reality of this football game is that we did not accomplish anything on Match of the Day. This is the nasty side of the game.

Gianfranco Zola shared with me an ancient proverb that he had heard many, many years ago. It was something along the lines of, “We are paid to have no feelings.”

After that, the former football player was questioned about how he would react to such a circumstance, and he responded by stating that it would inspire him to score a goal.
