In brief
One of the most sought-after honours in sports is the Premier League title.
Many teams have won the league by complete dominance, even if the conclusion of competitive seasons can be more interesting to watch.
In either a title victory or the pursuit of one, every competitor on this list scored more than 90 points.
Every team in the English top division aspires to win the Premier League title, whether it is possible or not. Of course, some teams are in a far better position to contend for the championship than others, but as Leicester City demonstrated during the 2015–16 season, anyone may theoretically compete for the trophy, which is a powerful incentive for many.
When two or more teams compete until the last few weeks for the title of champions, the Premier League is at its best. The suspense of the season’s end is heightened when the race comes down to the last day.
Point totals, especially in contemporary football, have typically risen above their historical levels due to the high calibre of many teams. That being said, which ten Premier League point totals are the highest ever recorded?

10Manchester City – 91 Points
2023/24 season

After becoming just the second English team in history to win a continental treble the previous season, Manchester City came into the 2023–24 season as the reigning champions of Europe. Since the Sky Blues were the current Premier League and Champions League champions and had just won the FA Cup, it was hard to picture them repeating their success.
City could scarcely have been expected to win a consecutive treble, but they did not. Pep Guardiola’s team advanced to the FA Cup final and the Champions League quarterfinals before losing to Manchester United, a city rival. However, City continued to dominate the competition.
Man City became the first side to win four consecutive top flight titles in the Premier League era on the last day of the season after battling against Arsenal for the title the entire season.
9Manchester United – 92 Points
1993/94 season

Spirits were high at Old Trafford during the 1993–94 season, and they would be even higher at the end for Manchester United, having just won the first Premier League and their first English league title in more than 25 years.
With a squad that included players like Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, and Roy Keane, and a would-be legendary Class of 92 on the verge of making the first team, the Red Devils became just the fourth team in the entire 20th century to win the Double under the direction of Sir Alex Ferguson, one of football’s greatest managers ever.
Man United ended with 92 points, eight points more than second-place Blackburn Rovers, after dominating the standings for the most of the season.
8Liverpool – 92 points
2021/22 season

Although Liverpool won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup in the 2021–2022 season, they had the opportunity to win more. The Reds were predicted to win an unprecedented quadruple of titles, competing with Manchester City for the Premier League title and making it to the Champions League final.
Liverpool painfully lost both competitions at the last minute despite their best efforts. They ultimately missed out on the Premier League by only one point after losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final. Liverpool’s own victory over Wolves was meaningless when Manchester City defeated Aston Villa on the last day.
With 92 points during the season, Liverpool set one of the highest point totals ever for a team in second place.
7Chelsea – 93 points
2016/17 season

After finishing 10th in the Premier League the previous season, Chelsea did not participate in a European competition for the first time in 20 years during the 2016–17 season. But in the long run, this would only help the Blues because it guaranteed that they could focus all of their energy on domestic games.
In a season that saw Chelsea advance to the FA Cup final, the Blues dominated the Premier League, winning 13 straight games to tie the top division record and finish with 30 wins overall—a record at the time.
At the end of the season, Chelsea had 93 points, the second-highest total in Premier League history, and were crowned champions. With two games left, the Stamford Bridge team won the title, finishing seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in second place.
6Manchester City – 93 points
2021/22 season

Manchester City had a poor start to the 2021–2022 season after losing the Community Shield to Leicester and losing the Carabao Cup, which they had won four times in a row, in the fourth round. All eyes were on the league as a result of this and their subsequent losses in the FA Cup and Champions League semi-finals.
For a large portion of the season, City and Liverpool were tied for the championship, with both clubs putting out their best effort. With just one loss from November to the end of the season, Guardiola’s team was almost flawless. They easily defeated Liverpool to win the title by one point, their fourth Premier League trophy in five years.
5Chelsea – 95 points
2004/05 season

In English football, a certain Jose Mourinho made his debut during the 2004–05 season. When Mourinho was hired by Porto in 2002, it was his first significant managerial opportunity. Many, including Chelsea, were interested in Mourinho’s successes with the team during the course of the following two years, which included a Champions League victory.
Mourinho quickly adjusted to playing in England. The manager added players like Ricardo Carvalho and Didier Drogba with money from the previous owner, Roman Abramovich. By the end of April, Chelsea had won the championship, and they broke several records over the season.
With 95 points, a league record at the time, the Blues earned their first league championship in fifty or more years. In addition, Chelsea’s Premier League defence has failed to improve, giving up just 15 goals during the season.
4Liverpool – 97 points
2018/19 season

When Liverpool won the Champions League for the sixth time in their club history at the end of the 2018–19 season, their early eliminations from domestic cup tournaments were more than justified. Despite the disappointment over the Premier League title, such a feat ensures that the campaign will always be remembered with fondness.
As was typical of both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool and Manchester City fought for the championship. That season, Liverpool won 30 Premier League games and finished the entire term undefeated at Anfield. Liverpool finished second behind City and missed out on the championship despite this and their 97-point total.
Needless to say, Liverpool’s point total set and continues to set a record for a team in second place across all of Europe’s top flight leagues.
3Manchester City – 98 points
2018/19 season

With 98 points to Liverpool’s 97 in the 2018–19 Premier League, Manchester City’s season was one of victory thanks to Liverpool’s heartbreak. City had an outstanding season, winning the Premier League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup domestically.
City and Liverpool were up against one other in one of the most intense title battles in recent memory. City only allowed 23 goals, which was six more than Liverpool’s 89 goals, while Liverpool only let up 22 goals. 30 victories would have undoubtedly been sufficient to win the championship in any other campaign. However, City recorded 32.
2Liverpool – 99 points
2019/20 season

Nothing can take away from Liverpool finally winning the Premier League trophy after decades of failures, even though the event was somewhat hampered by the lack of supporters stemming from the coronavirus outbreak. It was the team’s first Premier League victory and their first league title in thirty years.
The Reds dominated their way to the championship, and they still hold the record of 99 points in a single season. Liverpool had not lost at Anfield for the third straight season, and their 32 victories tied a record achieved by Manchester City the previous season.
Liverpool had one of the biggest victory margins in Premier League history, finishing 18 points clear of second-place Man City.
1Manchester City – 100 points
2017/18 season

Manchester City’s 2017–18 team, sometimes referred to as the Centurions, were the first and, as of this writing, the only team to record 100 points in a single Premier League season. No new version of Guardiola’s team has been as successful as this one, despite the fact that he would go on to win numerous other awards from this campaign.
In addition to reaching 100 points and scoring over 100 goals, City finished 19 points clear of Manchester United and had an incredible goal differential of +79. They won 32 games, drew four, and fell once each to Liverpool and Manchester United. With five games left in the season, they won the Premier League, which is evidence of their strong play.
