‘I’ve got a good feeling’ -Danny Murphy provides update on Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah contracts

Danny Murphy has expressed his confidence that either Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah will be a member of the Liverpool team for the upcoming season.

Despite the fact that the two players are currently in the final three months of their current contracts, there has been no agreement reached to increase the length of their tenure at Anfield.

Around Liverpool’s off-field concerns, the dominant topic of debate has been the futures of both players, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. In addition, the players’ futures have been the subject of speculation.

On the other hand, all contractual discussions have been pushed to the side on the pitch as the Reds have walked their way to the top place in the Premier League and are on the verge of achieving a record-tying 20th league triumph.

If you were to judge the two talismanic figures based on their performance, you would be forgiven for assuming that they were committed to the club for the next five seasons on account of their performance.

However, this is not the case at all, and if a deal is not made within the next few weeks, the star couple may be leaving Anfield since they are not happy with their current situation.

When it comes to player contracts, the owners of Fenway Sports Group in Liverpool have not exactly placed themselves in a position of strength. Alexander-Arnold, a graduate of the academy and a local icon, is also getting ready to leave the club.

Murphy, a former midfielder for Liverpool, is of the opinion that Van Dijk will sign a new contract with the club, despite the fact that he is worried about the future of the Egyptian King.

Murphy made this statement with a wry smirk on the most recent edition of talkSPORT’s new YouTube show, Inside Liverpool. “I’ve got a good feeling Virgil will stay,” Murphy remarked.

“I don’t know anything for certain, but what I’m trying to convey is that I’ve heard enough wonderful things about it from the individuals that I do know.

I’m not sure about Mo; if it were me, I’d have less confidence in that assumption.

Age and pay demands are the two factors that will determine whether or not the club will make a choice on the future of their players.

In June, Salah will turn 33 years old, despite the fact that he is still at the pinnacle of his abilities. Just one month later, Van Dijk will celebrate his 34th birthday.

A limited amount of information is available on the players’ wage expectations; however, it is highly improbable that owner John W. Henry and his partners will make any final judgements solely on feeling.

Van Dijk and Salah, on the other hand, are obligated to operate in a manner that is in their own best interests, as both players are expected to get a great deal of attention in the event that it becomes apparent that they will be leaving Anfield.

Since the Reds turned down a bid from the Middle East at the end of the transfer window in the previous summer, Salah has been the subject of speculation over a possible move to Saudi Arabia.

In the meanwhile, speculation has already begun to make connections between Van Dijk and potential transfers to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The majority of people would anticipate that both players would continue to be in outstanding form throughout the upcoming season, regardless of the team that they are playing for.

The Reds are able to refer to the high-profile exits of prominent players such as Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, and Michael Owen, all of whom were in the peak of their careers at the time of their departures, only for the club to continue its upward trajectory after their departures.

Nevertheless, the club may suffer a significant setback in the form of the departure of Alexander-Arnold, in addition to Salah and Van Dijk, in advance of the almost inevitable championship defence that will take place the following season.
