In the Southern League Premier Division South, Lorenz Ferdinand, the son of Rio Ferdinand, has joined Havant and Waterlooville as a replacement player.
The 18-year-old player, who previously played for Brighton & Hove Albion of the Premier League, has joined the team on a work experience basis.
It is possible for higher league clubs to send players to non-league sides outside of transfer windows through the use of a type of loan known as work experience.
The difference between Ferdinand and his father, who played defence for West Ham, Leeds United, and Manchester United, is that Ferdinand is a custodian.
Despite his efforts to break into the under-21s, Ferdinand has only made one appearance for Brighton’s under-18 team. He has made 22 appearances for Brighton’s under-18 team.
During this season’s Premier League 2 competition, he was a substitute and played four minutes in a victory over Southampton by a score of 4-2 in favour of his team.
The following is an excerpt from a statement released by the Hawks’ club: “Havant and Waterlooville Football Club is thrilled to announce that, custodian, Lorenz Ferdinand has joined on work experience from Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion for the remainder of the Season!”
“Ferdinand, who is 18 years old, came through the system at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he is currently continuing to hone his skills in the framework of their Under-21 roster.
As we continue to move closer and closer to the end of the season, Lorenz has joined forces with Shaun North’s team for the upcoming matchup!
Our team is excited to have Lorenz join the Hawks, and we are looking forward to seeing him play in the very near future.
Havant is currently in sixth place in the league, which is two divisions lower than the National League.
Twenty-three years ago, Lorenz entered into a management agreement with the agency known as New Era Global Sports.
In a post that he made on Instagram, his father said, “Our oldest son is doing his own thing in football.”
I am pleased to announce that I have signed with @neweraglobalsports, a position that I have earned through my hard work and dedication.
“Because it is a long road that is full of ups and downs, it is necessary to have the appropriate and professional support; therefore, New Era Global Sports should take the initiative. Dear Lorenz, I love you.
Within the company, Ferdinand Sr. serves as both an ambassador and a mentor, during which time he provides clients with “his experience and advice.”
His brothers Anton and Max are also in charge of the same responsibilities.
Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane, and Jacob Murphy are also examples of clients that the agency represents.
