Liverpool fans stunned as David Ornstein drops bombshell about FSG’s next move

The news that the owners of Liverpool, FSG, are interested in purchasing Malaga, a club in Spain, has left the fans of Liverpool in a state of shock.

There are currently three sports clubs owned by the American group: the Boston Red Sox, the Liverpool Football Club, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. If the Spanish third division side is successful, they will become the fourth sports club owned by our group.

Following a decade of playing in the top division of Spanish football, Malaga was demoted from La Liga in 2018. The situation became even more dire in 2023, when they were relegated to the third division after suffering a 2-1 loss to Alavés.

David Ornstein, writing for X, confirmed the news that FSG was interested in Malaga by stating, “Liverpool owners FSG exploring purchase of Spanish club Malaga.”

The journalist from The Athletic also disclosed that representatives have already visited the club’s facilities, which is further evidence of the seriousness of their interest in the club.

The initial focus was on purchasing the majority shareholder Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani’s 51% of the company, he continued.

In February, a delegation went to various facilities in order to evaluate the possibility of acquiring a multi-club configuration.

“FSG is considering and open to all forms of investment, with the priority being to inject a level of finance that enables it to impact the football operation,” the statement reads.

Fans of Liverpool took to social media to express their reactions after hearing the shocking news.

One supporter made a joke about it, saying, “Building a Malaga super team to deny Trent silverware at Madrid? Little John W. Henry, you are such a dancer.

As a result of the ongoing contract dispute that is taking place behind the scenes at Anfield, a great number of fans have been left wondering whether or not FSG is putting their attention in the appropriate place.

A particular supporter commented: “Can’t even run Liverpool successfully but already looking to buy another club?”

Someone else voiced their opinion, saying, “Can’t even sort out three contracts, and now this?”

The response from a third supporter was as follows: “And they do not want to renew Liverpool’s key players…. I’m sorry to say this, but the two people who are still here will be leaving.

An additional individual wrote: “These guys want to buy a club but won’t sort out our contract issues.”
