Ruben Amorim’s latest Man United transfer target once had Wolves pay £5m NOT to sign him

Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, is reportedly interested in acquiring Francisco Trincao, a player for Sporting CP, as a significant component of his planned summer squad overhaul, according to talkSPORT.

In spite of the fact that Amorim has had a difficult beginning to his life at Old Trafford, he considers Trincao to be an essential attacking reinforcement.

The possibility of a reunion arises from the fact that Trincao is currently performing well at Sporting, the club that Amorim managed in the past.

In spite of the fact that the Portugal international has a release clause worth fifty million pounds, Barcelona will receive fifty percent of any future transfer fee.

There have been reports that Sporting wants to get at least thirty-five million pounds for their prized asset, which could force United to pay more than the market price.

By the time Wolverhampton Wanderers borrowed Trincao from Barcelona in 2021, this was unquestionably the situation that they found themselves in.

The forward failed to live up to the lofty expectations that were placed on him at Molineux, as he only managed to score four goals in thirty appearances.

In order to avoid exercising their option to buy, Wolves were required to pay a loan fee of five million pounds as part of the agreement with Barcelona.

The beginning of Trincao’s journey began at Braga, where he made his debut in 2018 and went on to win the Taca da Liga in 2019-20.

The loan stint that he had at Wolves in 2021 was a significant milestone, which was followed by his transfer to Barcelona in 2020 for a fee of £26 million.

In the year 2022, he became a member of Sporting CP, initially on loan, and then in the year 2023, he made the move permanent.

Already in the current season, he has contributed eight goals and twelve assists across a total of twenty-six league matches.

With ten caps and two goals since making his debut with the senior team in 2020, the 25-year-old player has already established himself as a full-fledged Portugal international.

The pursuit of Trincao by Amorim is a component of a larger plan to restructure United’s squad, which may involve the departure of as many as ten players.

Despite this, Sporting CP is hesitant to part with Trincao, especially considering the growing interest that Manchester United has shown in their star striker, Viktor Gyokeres.

In addition, Gyokeres’s promising understudy, Conrad Harder, who is only 19 years old, is attracting the attention of clubs such as Chelsea after he has scored nine goals so far this season.

Prior to making any decisions regarding transfers, Manchester United will maintain their focus on their upcoming match against Nottingham Forest, which will be followed by the Manchester derby match against City.
