Following his last match as Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp was presented with a guard of honour at Anfield.
As the German manager passed through the line of honour, one Liverpool player was seen not cheering.
During Klopp’s lecture to the players in the changing room, the same player was also observed displaying minimal interest.
During Jurgen Klopp’s guard of honour at Anfield, keen-eyed Liverpool supporters saw that Darwin Nunez was the only player who did not cheer. On the last day of the 2023–24 Premier League season, the Reds defeated Wolves 2-0, and the esteemed German coach waved them off.
Liverpool said goodbye to their most successful manager in the previous 30 years on a tearful afternoon on Merseyside. Even if Arne Slot is set to give Liverpool’s record-tying 20th league trophy in the upcoming weeks, Klopp is still the only person to have led the English powerhouses to the Premier League title since the league’s founding in 1992. In addition to helping the Merseyside team win a sixth European Cup, Klopp solidified his place among the club’s all-time great managers.
Some of the team’s most composed players broke down in tears, including captain Virgil van Dijk, who was clearly moved as he gave his boss a farewell embrace on the pitch. As the Liverpool players joined the fans in a season-ending performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” Trent Alexander-Arnold was also spotted fighting back tears. But it didn’t seem like a really significant event for each player.
Darwin Nunez Didn’t Applaud Klopp
Fans are unsure why he failed to join in

In Klopp’s final game, Darwin Nunez was substituted in the second half. The Uruguayan and his manager hugged before the Uruguayan played his farewell game. Because of his wasteful play in front of goal, the striker received harsh criticism in the final weeks of the season. As a result, he lost favour and was substituted by Cody Gakpo in the starting lineup for the match against Wolves.
Video from Klopp’s ceremony on the Anfield ground showed all of the Liverpool players, with the exception of Nunez, applauding their leaving manager. This created a sensation on the internet since it seemed disrespectful to one of the greatest Premier League managers ever. Watch the video below:
Footage has emerged of Darwin Nunez failing to clap Klopp in his guard of honour. He was also seemingly the only player not to clap for Klopp in his final team meeting yesterday.

After the misfiring forward’s social media activities earlier that month raised doubts about his future at the club, supporters were already growing impatient with him. According to reports, Klopp was the Reds’ greatest Nunez booster. The 57-year-old reportedly disagreed with other club members because he was desperate to sign the forward in 2022.
The Response of Nunez to Klopp’s Speech
The striker didn’t seem interested.

After addressing the club’s supporters in public, Klopp offered one more statement to his players inside the dressing room. The passionate speech the former Borussia Dortmund manager gave to the team one final time was captured on camera, and once more, Nunez’s actions attracted a lot of attention.
When Klopp had done speaking, the striker was seen sitting with his hands on his head, seemingly ignoring what his manager was saying. He then declined to join in the round of applause with the other players. Nunez didn’t seem to handle the situation well, whether it was because he didn’t like the boss or because he was just angry to see such a powerful person during his career leave.

“No one anticipated Klopp’s departure, so we were all a little taken aback. According to the Metro, Nunez later stated in an interview with El Pais, “It is unfortunate that he is departing.” “I would have preferred it if he had won something and left in a dramatic fashion, but that is not how it happened. It’s unfortunate for the players as well. I send him my warmest regards.
