Thomas Tuchel calls out two players for their performance against Albania in brutal post-match interview

Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of England, provided a brutally honest evaluation of his team’s performance following their victory over Albania at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening. He specifically mentioned two players in his discussion of the team’s performance.

Despite having been appointed as the head coach of the Three Lions back in October, Tuchel, who is now 51 years old, finally worked his way up to the position of managing England’s first match.

When Arsenal defender Myles-Lewis Skelly latched onto a smart pass by Jude Bellingham, the teenager finished with aplomb to become the youngest player to score on his England debut at the age of 18 years and 176 days. He did not have to wait long to see his team take the lead. The goal was scored shortly after the twenty-minute mark.

The home team’s captain, Harry Kane, took control of Declan Rice’s lofted ball and then sharply smashed it into the back of the net to double their lead at the 77-minute mark.

In spite of the fact that Tuchel’s team won with relative ease, not all of the players and fans, including the new England manager, were impressed by the performance.

A number of supporters expressed their opinion that Phil Foden, who plays for Manchester City, did not have a significant impact on the game.

That being said, what was Tuchel’s opinion of his performance?

Immediately following the conclusion of the match, he shared his thoughts with ITV Football.

Initially, he provided an explanation of how his side “can do better.”

“We are capable of doing better, and we are needed to do better,” said Tuchel. We got off to a strong start, winning seventy-eight minutes of possession of the ball, making a lot of passes, and maintaining a high level of energy.

Due to the fact that they are defending in a deep block, the opponent is difficult to defeat.

“During the Euros, they were able to avoid giving up any opportunities. I had the impression that we were moving too slowly in the second half, and in general, there were not enough runs off the ball to get behind the line.

After that, the former Chelsea manager was questioned about his thoughts on the performances of Foden and Marcus Rashford in wide positions.

“We pray that these positions will have a greater impact,” he continued.

“You should be dribbling more and running more aggressively towards the box. In a general sense, that was incomplete. The little runs that are made behind the line are where the chances come from.

“There was a bit missing they were not as decisive as they can be.”

The two were brought up once more in his press conference that took place after the match.

The explanation that Tuchel provided was as follows: “We will encourage him [Foden] to do what he does best: go at defenders, go to dribbles.”

Both of our wingers did not have the same level of impact that they normally do in club football, as they typically do in other types of football. I am not sure why we had such a difficult time getting the ball to them in a timely manner, and I am also not sure why it took us so long.
