Gianluigi Buffon’s son, Louis, Snubs Italy and Pledges Future to Surprise Country

Louis Buffon, the son of Gianluigi Buffon, has taken a risk by choosing to play for the Czech Republic internationally rather than Italy, like his illustrious father did. After his father’s incredible 176 appearances for the Azzurri led to the 2006 World Cup victory, the 17-year-old is keen to make his own career one that would make Buffon senior pleased.

Louis has decided to represent his mother’s country, the Czech Republic, where Alena Seredova is from, rather than continuing in his father’s footsteps. Louis made his first-team debut for Pisa in Serie B only last month, playing for Filippo Inzaghi, his father’s former Italy colleague.

Louis got his first call-up to the Czech Under-18s team as a reward for his quick improvement, which has seen him score six goals in his first 20 games for the Pisa Under-19s team. The youthful forward will be keen to make an impression on the global scene when the youth squad plays Portugal and England this week.

Buffon’s Son Explains Reason Behind Czech Republic Pledge

The family agreed it was the best decision for his development

Louis gave the Czech media team an explanation of his decision after getting his first call-up. “I was very happy to come to the meeting and curious about the different football culture,” he stated, according to The Sun.

“After talking with my family, we came to the conclusion that playing for the Czech Republic would benefit both my football career and my growth as a player. Naturally, my mother was overjoyed, but my father was also thrilled since it was my first time being called up to the national squad.

The boy, who was born and reared in Italy, acknowledged that he didn’t speak the language well. He is more than willing to work hard and take the required steps, though, given his new course. He went on: “I started learning Czech as soon as I learnt that I could come here, even though I don’t speak it very well yet. Every day, I spend roughly ten minutes on Duolingo.

While playing for the Czech Republic, Louis might face his native nation. However, he asserts that he wouldn’t handle a contest like that any differently. “I was born and raised in Italy, but I think that in order to be a 100 per cent professional and do my job as well as possible, every match has to be important for me, whether it is against Italy or any other national team.”
