Legendary darts player Michael van Gerwen has not been acting like himself recently, and a close pal has disclosed that the Dutchman has been battling a medical condition.
Vincent van der Voort, a fellow Dutch darts player, discussed his closest buddy’s predicament on the Darts Draait Door podcast. His friend contracted the sickness while in Thailand.
According to Van der Voort, MvG has been visiting several doctors for his health issues since his January vacation in Thailand, and he feels that this is affecting his performances.
Van Gerwen, 35, has been extremely erratic as a result of his inability to find his typical form. On the Darts Draait Door podcast, Van der Voort discussed how terrible things are for MvG at the moment.

He claimed that he had been battling an ailment or virus for a while. He caught it while on vacation in Thailand in early January, and he hasn’t been able to get rid of it. Furthermore, he isn’t playing at his best right now.
Podcast presenter Damian Vlottes suggested that Van Gerwen take a sabbatical from the sport after his buddy Van der Voort revealed that he had even met physicians that morning.
What time should he do that? His guest retorted, “He’s not in a position to just skip tournaments.”
The Premier League with Michael van Gerwen
Currently, the Dutchman performs on stage once a week.

He is correct; “Mighty Mike” is presently competing in the Premier League, the top darts league. The competition, which pits the sport’s top eight players against one another every week, is fiercely competitive. not just by the competitors, but also by those attempting to enter the competition.
The top four players in the PDC rankings—Rob Cross, MvG, Luke Littler, and Luke Humphries—automatically qualified for the tournament. Van Gerwen’s spot in this year’s competition was never in doubt because they are joined by four wildcards who are chosen based on popularity and merit. Ultimately, calls to finalise the eight-man event went to Chris Dobey, Stephen Bunting, Gerwyn Price, and Nathan Aspinall.

Despite his illnesses, Van Gerwen is anticipated to attend the seventh night of Premier League Darts action in Cardiff this evening. He must defeat Luke Humphries, the top-ranked player in the world, in the quarterfinals.
Consequently, buddy Van der Voort concurs that rest does not appear to be a viable choice for MvG at this time, despite his illness.
The doctor advised him against spending a lot of time on aeroplanes because bacteria can spread there. However, what options does he have?
