It has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur has identified two leading candidates to replace Ange Postecoglou, who is currently facing criticism.
The Tottenham Hotspur football team made their return to Premier League competition on Sunday afternoon, when they travelled to Craven Cottage to play their rivals Fulham from London.
A crucial victory by a score of 2-0 was secured by goals scored by Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon, despite the fact that Postecoglou’s team played below par.
Due to the loss, Spurs are currently ranked fourteenth in the Premier League table, which is a significant distance behind their competitors.
In the aftermath of the game, the under-pressure manager Postecoglou had to be restrained by his own player in order to avoid confronting an irate fan who was sitting in the stands.
“What was that?!” One of the fans could be heard yelling at the Australian manager, who responded with his own yelling.
During the time that Postecoglou was delivering his own outburst, he was restrained by Djed Spence and Mathys Tel, who could be heard requesting that individuals show respect.
There were rumours circulating on Monday that Spurs have identified two possible replacements for Postecoglou in the event that they decide to part ways with him.
Two possible candidates to take Ange Postecoglou’s place have been identified by the Spurs.
The former manager of Bournemouth, Andoni Iraola, and the current manager of Fulham, Marco Silva, are expected to be among the leading candidates to succeed Postecoglou, as reported by The Telegraph.
The newspaper article stated: “Bournemouth are expected to fight to try to keep Iraola, but there are doubts emerging over Silva’s future at Fulham, despite the superb job he has done at Craven Cottage.”
Given that Spurs are scheduled to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the round of eight of the Europa League, it has been suggested that the Europa League is a significant factor in determining Postecoglou’s future playing career.
Mauricio Pochettino (7/2), Thomas Frank (4/1), Silva (8/1) and Kieran McKenna (8/1) are the other players who are considered to be the favourites to replace Postecoglou. Iraola, who is a Spaniard, is the second favourite to take over for Postecoglou. At the time this article was written, all odds were accurate.
Immediately following the conclusion of the match against Fulham, Postecoglou made the following statement: “I told the players that I am not going to let anyone think about anything other than Europa.”
We cannot allow this league season to continue in the manner that it has. For far too many games, we have been defeated. This cannot be tolerated.
