It will be necessary for fans of the Premier League to wait a few hours longer in order to satisfy their desire for football this afternoon.
When it comes to Saturday afternoons, the top-flight action typically begins at 12:30 p.m., and games that follow at 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and even sometimes at 8 p.m.
Over the course of this weekend, however, that will not be the case because there have been some adjustments made to the broadcasting schedule.
Furthermore, talkSPORT.com examines the reasons behind why…
Why wouldn’t there be a kickoff at 12:30 p.m.?
In light of the fact that there is not a game that has been chosen for broadcast, there will be no early kick-off this coming Saturday.
In the course of their exclusive package, TNT Sports will typically broadcast the Premier League matches that take place at 12:30 p.m.
Due to the terms of their agreement, they will be able to broadcast 52 games during the season. These games will be split between two rounds of midweek matches and Saturday lunchtime games.
However, in addition to that, as a component of that package, they are required to select four weekends that are free during the course of the season.
As was the case during the previous campaign as well, there were a few 12:30 p.m. slots that were left vacant throughout the year.
In some instances, early kick-offs are rescheduled to coincide with a later date and time; however, this is not the case in this instance.
Due to the fact that Liverpool, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace have all had their games rescheduled, it appears that this weekend has been chosen to be a blank. This is likely due to the fact that there are fewer fixtures than it would have been otherwise.
Due to the fact that Liverpool will be playing Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday afternoon, which will be broadcast live on talkSPORT, they now have a league game.
At the same time that there have been some other peculiar alterations made to the schedule, this weekend there will not be an early start.
On Saturday, there are four games that begin at three o’clock, and one that begins at five thirty.
On the other hand, on Sunday, we have two games that begin at the earlier time of 1:30 p.m., and then another game that begins at the distinct time of 7 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m., Arsenal will play Chelsea, Fulham will play Spurs, and Leicester will play Manchester United at 7 p.m. all of these matches will take place.
These adjustments have been made once more in order to accommodate the Carabao Cup final that will be played between Liverpool and Newcastle.
In what is sure to be a nail-biting matchup, the two Premier League teams will square off at Wembley Stadium on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
The highlight of the Carabao Cup will be broadcast live on talkSPORT, and the network will also provide coverage of the matches that will take place on Saturday.
During the time that all of the goals are being scored around the grounds, Adrian Durham will be hosting GameDay Live alongside Troy Deeney, Micky Grey, and Alvin Martin.
At the same time, we will also be providing exclusive coverage of the match between Manchester City and Brighton on talkSPORT 2.
