Oleksandr Zinchenko, a defender for Arsenal, did not celebrate after he scored the first goal for Mikel Arteta’s team in the second leg of their Champions League match against PSV. This has caused it to become a topic of conversation among people.
Arteta made seven substitutions to his team in preparation for their match against PSV. Zinchenko was one of the players that Arteta brought in, along with Ben White, Jorginho, Raheem Sterling, Kieran Tierney, Jakub Kiwior, and Myles Lewis-Skelly from the bench.
And with only six minutes played in North London, the Ukraine international made it 8-1 on aggregate after smashing the ball past keeper Walter Benitez with a powerful strike from just outside the box. This brought the score to 8-1 on aggregate.
After a few moments, Zinchenko turned his back on the goal and then raised his hands in the air simultaneously.
It would appear that the defender, who is 28 years old, did not celebrate the goal despite the fact that he played 12 times for the Eredivisie side during a loan spell in 2016/17. Additionally, he was still under contract with Manchester City at the time.
Here are some of the responses that fans on social media had to the incident.
“Zinchenko is refusing to celebrate against a club for which he played 12 league games when he was 19 years old,” wrote one one of his fans. The game is over,” and a second person said, “Zinchenko’s refusal to celebrate is one thing, but apologising to fans who are away is… wtf.” Is my game nowhere to be found?
A third person made the following observation: “Zinchenko is unable to celebrate such a fine goal against them because he was on loan from City to PSV for a total of twelve appearances in 2016?” To be honest, the games are over.”
Zinchenko did not celebrate his first ever Champions League goal because he was on loan at PSV eight years ago, according to a fourth of the respondents. “Utter woke nonsense,” a fifth person went on to say, adding, “Class act.”
An emotional Zinchenko opened up about his brief but significant time spent in Eindhoven after he had provided assistance to PSV in achieving a third-place finish in the Eredivisie division.
According to what he said in the year 2023, “Well, first of all, that was an amazing experience for me.” It was a year that was very significant for my professional life.
When people asked me about PSV, I always used to say positive things because the place here is absolutely fantastic in terms of everything. “Even if you look at it on paper, I didn’t play much or I didn’t get what I really wanted before I joined PSV, but honestly, I wouldn’t have traded this experience for anything else because I would not have changed it for anything else.”
“Football-wise and living life because even after I left PSV, I used to come here a couple of times for holidays because I have a few friends here as well,” he continued. “It’s been a while since I’ve been here.”
“It is an incredible place, especially for someone as young as I was when I was playing at that time. Every time there is a full stadium, the fans are always enthusiastic about football. They are always delighted to see you whenever they have the opportunity to do so. In my opinion, this is the single most important thing that every football player should be doing.
