Football is a game that never sleeps. Somewhere in the world, someone is engaged in some aspect of the beautiful game during each of the 86400 seconds that make up a 24-hour day. This might be anything from booting a ball against a wall with friends to sharing their expert analysis on social media or winning a high-profile match at the last minute.

Since no human can possibly keep up with everything that happens during a game, football is often made great by the small but fascinating moments, such as a fan’s alternate perspective on a penalty save, a three-second but incredibly telling exchange between two bitter rivals, or a thread on X that explains why N’Golo Kante is the nicest man in professional sports.

In order to address that issue, GIVEMESPORT developed our live blog, which offers the best social media features available along with the best football mini-stories from the previous day.

March 13: Vinicius Junior Dresses Atletico Madrid Injuries with Salt
After the Champions League match, a Real Madrid player’s tweet goes viral.

On Wednesday night, following Real Madrid’s contentious Champions League Round of 16 victory, Vinicius Junior added salt to Atletico Madrid’s wounds. After a penalty shootout in which VAR stepped in and disallowed Julian Alvarez’s converted penalty after the Atletico striker accidentally struck the ball twice, Vini and his Los Blancos teammates advanced to the quarterfinals.

After the game, Vinicius, who scored a penalty kick over the ball during regular time and was replaced by Endrick in the 115th minute, wrote on X (Twitter): “Oh my god!!!” MADRID IS ONE AND ONLY ONE! But everyone is aware of that. Let’s do better the next time. The Brazilian also addressed the Atletico Madrid supporters who were jeering at him when he was substituted, pointing out that Real Madrid has won the European Cup fifteen times whereas Atleti has won none. 12th March: Salah’s Eye-Opening Reaction to Nunez’s Penalty Miss

Van Dijk, Gakpo and Endo were quick to console the striker

The Paris Saint-Germain players’ penalties were flawless, but Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both missed as the French team advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals against either Club Brugge or Aston Villa. Nunez was the first to miss for the home team, and his feeble attempt—which was easily saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma—gave their opponents the advantage. The Uruguayan has become a contentious figure among the Anfield supporters, and it hasn’t helped his case, especially since he was dismissed by Mohamed Salah when he returned after his miss. Virgil van Dijk, Wataru Endo, and Cody Gakpo were quick to console the 25-year-old, who understandably cut a frustrated figure, but Salah remained on the half-line in the eye-opening footage. 12th March: Fans React to Footage of Trent’s Reaction to Injury vs PSG “Just when we need him the most.”

The release of video showing Trent Alexander-Arnold’s response to his injury has devastated Liverpool fans. The Englishman appeared to have twisted his ankle during the second half of his team’s final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The right-back was substituted for Jarell Quansah after his ankle twisted in a strange way while he was trying to make a tackle. Alexander-Arnold can be seen slashing a distressed figure on the ground in footage of his response that has been made public.

The 26-year-old, who is linked to Real Madrid, writhed in agony before pulling his shirt over his head to await medical attention. Fans have expressed their dissatisfaction on X (previously Twitter). One Liverpool supporter hinted that his vital presence would be missed on the team’s next schedule. They penned:

I’m sorry to see this. When Trent was hurt against PSG, he was devastated. The most important games are still to come, so we need him the most right now.”

A last supporter expressed hope that it would not be Hughes’ last appearance for the team due to worries over his future, saying, “If this is the last we see of Trent, there should be riots to get Hughes out of that football club.” “I sincerely hope that Trent wearing a Liverpool shirt won’t be seen again.”

March 10: Rasmus Hojlund’s video following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal
Outside Old Trafford, Peter Schmeichel was captured on camera conversing with an unproductive striker.

Following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal, Rasmus Hojlund was caught on camera chatting with club veteran Peter Schmeichel outside Old Trafford. Supporters of Manchester United have voiced their sympathies for the struggling striker. After failing to score in Sunday’s Premier League match, the 22-year-old center-forward, who signed a £72 million contract with United from Atalanta in August 2023, has now gone 20 games without a goal.

Hojlund, who was added as a substitute by Ruben Amorim, played the last fifteen minutes but failed to score again. In the aftermath of the game, Schmeichel seemed to be encouraging the Denmark international. However, United supporters couldn’t help but notice his depressed appearance. “I feel awful for him,” one supporter remarked on X (Twitter), while another added, “The lad looks shot.” “The guy is broken,” a third person remarked, while a fourth person added, “I feel for him, honestly.”

Mr. Beast ‘Airs’ Emile Heskey on March 9th
An awkward scene following a Sidemen charity match sparks controversy

After Saturday’s Sidemen charity match at Wembley, YouTube sensation Mr Beast has come under fire for ‘airing’ former Premier League striker Emile Heskey as he accepted his medal. The 26-year-old American shook hands with referee Mark Clattenburg and even gave the official one of his Feastables chocolates. His YouTube channel has the most subscribers (371 million) on the platform.

Heskey was left hanging after patiently waiting to shake hands with the YouTube sensation. Heskey’s response indicated that he was left perplexed by the incident as Mr Beast presented his medal to the audience and left. Heskey was a part of the commentary channel for the Sidemen vs. YouTube All-Stars game at Wembley, which earned more than £4 million for charity and finished in a 9-9 draw.

March 8: Cristiano Ronaldo Completely Devastates His Replica
The Portuguese celebrity’s response went viral right away.

The most recognisable football player in the world right now is Cristiano Ronaldo. With millions of devoted admirers following his career, the Portuguese legend is well-known throughout the world. It takes courage to call oneself a Ronaldo “lookalike,” and one fan’s attempt at doing so didn’t go so well.

Prior to CR7 playing for Al-Nassr against Al-Shabab in Saudi Pro League action, video showed his response to the ‘lookalike’. Ronaldo was seen teasingly yelling at the supporter during his pregame warm-up: “You don’t look like me, you’re very ugly.” brutal.

The age-defying superstar then scored his 463rd goal since turning 30, demonstrating that no one is quite like him. Prior to that historic birthday, he had managed as many strikes.

Jamie Carragher Races YouTuber Speed on March 6th
A 47-year-old Liverpool icon confronted a 20-year-old YouTube star.

Following Wednesday night’s Champions League matches, Jamie Carragher and YouTuber Speed faced off in a race inside the CBS Studio. The apparent favourite versus former Liverpool player Carragher, who celebrated his 47th birthday in the same month, was Speed, whose real name is Darren Watkins, who only turned 20 in January.

Carragher cheated by pushing Speed at the beginning of the race, but Speed bounced back and was able to cross the finish line first. “You cheated and you still lost!” Speed yelled at the former defender who was now a pundit. Carragher said, “I’m disappointed, I thought I had him,” to Micah Richards. “The race was too long!” View the amusing video in its entirety below.

4th March: Tyrone Mings’ Incredible Goal-Line Clearance

The Aston Villa man denied Club Brugge with an incredible stop

Leon Bailey, Marco Asensio, and Brandon Mechele’s own goal helped Aston Villa defeat Club Brugge 3-1 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match. However, Tyrone Mings will be given the credit for the outcome since he kept his team in the game with an incredible goal-line clearance. Hans Vanaken was destined to give Brugge the lead with the score poised at 1-1 in the second half, but the defender stopped him with a spectacular lunge and the smallest deflection that sent the ball inches past the post.

After that, Unai Emery’s team scored again, giving them a healthy two-goal lead going into the second leg when they play again at Villa Park the following week.

4th March: Besiktas Change Badge

The changes are so subtle that fans are struggling to see the difference

Before their 122nd anniversary, Turkish powerhouses Besiktas unveiled a new club emblem, but the modifications are so minor that many supporters are finding it difficult to tell the difference between the old and new designs. At first sight, how many can you identify?

Still having trouble? The red of the logo has been changed to precisely match the Turkish flag’s hue of red. Second, for greater contrast, the black outline is now the same thickness as the white one. Lastly, the letters “B,” “J,” and “K,” as well as the digits 1, 9, 0, and 3, have all been aligned to the same thickness. Why alter a formula that works?

Vinicius Junior has stated that Real Madrid, not himself, made the choice for him to skip the Ballon d’Or event after learning he would not be the winner. Hours before the gala, it was announced that Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, had been chosen by journalists to receive the trophy instead of the Brazilian winger, who was the clear choice.

Vinicius and no Real Madrid representatives showed up to protest the judgement and the perceived treatment of the club by the French Football Federation, even though they had previously planned a celebration party based on his victory.

The winger said, “I didn’t feel betrayed [by not winning],” according to GOAL. “Some voters cast ballots based on their beliefs. I have opinions, and so do my teammates.

“Winning the Ballon d’Or has never been my dream. Naturally, you want to win when you’re in the running for it, but I’ll have other chances to win. I’m here to win many more Champions Leagues, and I’ve already won two.”

The 24-year-old responded as follows when asked who called to cancel the ceremony:

“The club’s [choice] is always final. I follow the club’s instructions. I complied with their request to remain in Madrid in a composed manner.

On March 3, Fowler declines to sign a young fan’s Man United shirt after being criticised by supporters for his “petty” actions.

After declining to sign a young Manchester United fan’s shirt, Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler has come under fire from supporters. Several of the greatest players from the past came together in Bangkok over the weekend to play in the Reignwood Icons of Football golf tournament.

Large crowds of fans gathered to witness Fowler, Paul Scholes, and John Terry represent Team England against Team World, two squads led by two Ryder Cup titans.

When the players were meeting the fans, Fowler took the time to sign a lot of caps and proceeded to talk to a young man who was waiting impatiently. When he noticed that the boy was holding a Manchester United shirt, he swiftly ignored him and carried on introducing himself.

“He’s acting petty here, in my opinion.” As another fan wrote: “Pathetic, it’s a kid,” one fan commented. What’s wrong with him, please? “Very poor on his part… grow up!” a third person added.
