Erik ten Hag says only one Man Utd manager has got all the players he wanted in the last decade

According to Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United board has only supported one manager in the last ten years.

According to Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United board has only supported one manager in the last ten years.

Erik ten Hag thinks that in the past ten years, only one Manchester United manager received the right support.

Since taking over as United manager in 2022, the Dutchman has spent about £400 million, landing high-profile players like Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Antony.

He recently discussed his unsuccessful attempts to sign Harry Kane and Frenkie de Jong, the latter of whom he believes was essential to interpreting the Ajax way of thinking.

During his time at Old Trafford, Mourinho signed players like Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, but he frequently claimed he was lacking in financial backing from higher up.

The United manager disputes the Portuguese’s recent claims that he didn’t receive the same level of support as Ten Hag does at the moment.

Ten Hag stated, as reported by ESPN, “The manager, aside from Mourinho, didn’t get the players they wanted, and that is what you need.”

“I’m sure we can accomplish our objectives, but the competition is fierce.” The race is no longer between two horses.

“There are seven or eight [Premier League teams] with very strong squads that compete for the championship.

“So, you have to build that squad if you want to go to the title.”

Before their match against Crystal Palace on Monday night, United is presently ranked eighth in the Premier League.

Plans are still being considered by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, so Ten Hag’s future is still unclear.

Despite having a year left on his contract, he emphasized during his press conference on Thursday that patience is key and that results should be trusted to the process.

“Exceptional players are required,” Ten Hag clarified.

If not, you need to exercise patience as you are going through a process. That’s our current situation. We selected players with great potential, and it is our responsibility to help them grow both as individuals and as a unit. However, the procedure requires patience.”
