Virgil van Dijk’s Tunnel Conversation After Liverpool 0-1 PSG – What Was Said

If Liverpool supporters hadn’t been offended by their team’s early Champions League elimination following Paris Saint-Germain’s victory on penalties, they would have been after seeing a video of Virgil van Dijk talking to the team’s executives, the details of which have now been made public.

Arne Slot’s team was among the favourites to win the main trophy in Munich at the end of May, possibly because they won the top table league phase in Europe. However, Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones missed the place, so they won’t be taking home the prize.

Van Dijk, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, was occupied conversing with Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaifi as the Anfield supporters realised that they only had the Premier League and the League Cup left to play for.

Following their victory, the PSG players, including Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha, and Gianluigi Donnarumma, were still in the locker rooms. The Dutchman initially met Al-Khelaifi before Campos joined him.

Since, many affiliated with the Reds have been fretting over whether their skipper was exchanging basic pleasantries or whether there was a potential talk over whether Van Dijk would be open to heading to Parc des Princes this summer.

The central defender reportedly just wanted to apologise for his earlier remarks against France’s top division, Ligue 1, at the halftime break of their first leg in the French capital, according to French outlet RMC Sport.

An enraged Campos was complaining to the referees after Ibrahima Konate stormed into his countryman Bradley Barcola’s back and walked away unharmed, but Van Dijk’s eight-word reaction was already making the rounds. He stated:

Bro, this isn’t Ligue 1. Come on.

Fortunately for the Anfield club’s followers, Van Dijk’s discussion, which included a tender embrace between the two, was merely an apology rather than scheduling meetings or draughting future contracts.

Van Dijk, who is considered to be among the best defenders in international football at the moment, stated that he “has no idea” what the future holds after leaving Europe’s top league and when asked if a contract extension was imminent, according to James Pearce.

“At this time, I’m still unsure. Sincerely, I don’t know. There is no hold on it. There is nothing on hold. I say the same thing again and over. When questioned after the game, the 33-year-old Dutchman stated, “I have ten games left, and that is my entire focus.”
