PSG Fan Used ‘Never-Seen-Before’ Tactic During Shootout vs Liverpool

Questions have been raised over how a Paris Saint-Germain supporter was able to divert Liverpool players during the French team’s victory in Tuesday night’s penalty shootout by using a strategy that has never been seen before. Liverpool had a 1-0 lead going into the game, but Ousmane Dembele’s goal 12 minutes into the game eliminated that lead.

The fierce match was decided by penalties because neither team was able to secure a winner in regular or extra time. Liverpool’s elimination in the Champions League Round of 16 was sealed when Gianluigi Donnarumma stopped Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones’ spot kicks in front of the Anfield Road End after PSG captain Achraf Hakimi won the coin toss to decide the shooting order and end.

The antics of a supporter with a loudhailer might have been the decisive factor, but Luis Enrique and his bench stepped out of the dugout to join PSG’s custodian in celebrating.

PSG Fan Used Megaphone to Distract Liverpool Players

Reds’ supporters are questioning why it was allowed

A loudhailer was noticed in the hands of a PSG fan who was positioned immediately behind the goal. He kept playing siren sounds while Liverpool players took their spot-kicks during the penalty shootout. He could also be heard yelling down it to divert attention. View the incidents that follow:

The usage of the loudhailer online has drawn harsh criticism from Liverpool supporters, who wonder how it was allowed. “How was that PSG fan allowed to use a siren right behind the goals?” one fan wondered on X, while another added, “How was that guy with the loudhailer allowed to do what he was doing during the shootout?” Stewards inside Anfield wearing earmuffs did not intervene. It’s plenty to demotivate anyone.

Another remark read: “How on Earth did someone get into a stadium and be allowed to make that noise behind the goal with a loudhailer?” “I’ve worked in that stadium, so why was the PSG fan with the loudhailer permitted to belt it out before every penalty?” a fourth person concluded. At the very least, it is confiscated; at the worst, you are expelled from the stadium.

Despite winning the Champions League league phase, the Reds must accept that they were just not good enough to defeat PSG this morning. They must remember the wider picture, too, as they appear to be headed for the Premier League championship and have a League Cup final at Wembley on Sunday to look forward to, so not everything is lost.
