During a critical evaluation, Rory Jennings has referred to one Manchester United player as the “worst player the club has ever had.”
On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal met United at Old Trafford for an exciting Premier League match.
Mikel Arteta’s team was aware that they had to secure a victory prior to the match, as Liverpool had defeated Southampton on Saturday, thereby increasing their lead at the top of the table to 16 points.
In the first half, United’s Bruno Fernandes scored a free kick in stoppage time, which stunned the Gunners.
Declan Rice scored an equaliser in the 74th minute, but the visitors were unable to secure a victory, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
In reality, United had the opportunity to secure the victory; Rasmus Hojlund had two significant scoring opportunities before David Raya executed an extraordinary save to prevent Fernandes from scoring at the final moment.
talkSPORT’s Jennings delivered a scathing assessment of Hojlund on social media as the Dane continues to struggle at United.
He wrote, “In other news, Rasmus Hojlund is the worst player to have ever played for Manchester United.” At any time.
“The situation is atrocious.” He was so far beyond his capabilities. I should harbour animosity towards the Manchester United striker; however, I am inclined to feel pity for him. I am uncertain as to whether he would be granted a game at QPR.
In 37 appearances across all competitions thus far in the 24/25 season, Hojlund, 22, has only managed seven goals and one assist.
Christian Eriksen was promoted to the starting lineup for the match against Arsenal, and the Dane was also relegated to the bench.
Ruben Amorim, the manager of the Red Devils, confirmed that the reason for Hojlund’s departure was due to the squad’s rotation.
He stated, “The team’s rotation is necessary; we require a new team to compete in all of the games.” He possesses the capacity to be in possession.
“He is really strong near the box, he can shoot, he can score and we try to use different players in different games.”
Amorim further elaborated: “His youthfulness.” I believe that he was exceedingly fatigued at the conclusion of the game (versus Sociedad). We experiment with various approaches.
“We know the opposition’s centre-backs, we know what they think and what they like, and we try different things to surprise the opponent.”
