Following the revelation that Kobbie Mainoo earns significantly more than Lamine Yamal, a winger for Barcelona, fans of Manchester United have all come to the same conclusion.
According to reports that surfaced on Friday, Mainoo is “minded to reject” a contract offer from Manchester United. This has caused the future of Mainoo at Manchester United to be uncertain.
In light of the fact that the England international player might “seek a move abroad,” the Guardian reported that United would be willing to sell the player for approximately seventy million pounds.
On account of the fact that Mainoo has fewer than two years remaining on his current contract, which is set to expire in 2027, the player’s representatives have been engaged in contract negotiations for some time now.
While “fresh talks” were taking place between Mainoo and the club, his “representatives want a pay rise to £180,000-a-week plus bonuses which would bring him in line with his teammates,” according to a report that was published by the Mail earlier this week.
According to Capology, Mainoo is currently reportedly earning a weekly salary of twenty thousand pounds. With an annual salary of approximately 350 000 pounds, Casemiro is United’s highest earner.
The fact that he is a graduate of United’s youth academy and has not been acquired by United along with a transfer from another club is one of the factors that contributes to his low salary.
The question is, how does his salary stack up against that of other young players across Europe?
Yamal, who is 17 years old and plays for Barcelona, is one of the most talked about teenagers in the world of football. Despite the fact that Mainoo is 19 years old, Yamal is considered to be more advanced in his development than Mainoo.
It has been reported that the Spain international earns €32,115 (£27,000) per week, which is only £7,000 more than the wage that Mainoo is known to receive.
Fans on social media have also voiced their opinions regarding the alleged wage demands made by Mainoo.
A particular individual stated: “Yamal earns €30K at Barcelona yet United fans think Mainoo deserves £180k for 14th place.”
“180 thousand dollars is insane, his wage value is somewhere around Amad or less,” said another. The fans of United have not yet learnt from the mistakes they made by paying these players who are not performing well enormous salaries.
A third individual made the following observation: “Both of them are about to renew, so Yamal won’t be on thirty thousand for very long.” If they decide to renew, compare.”
As a fourth person put it, “And he’s 18 years old, you’re not supposed to be earning two hundred thousand pounds every week, lol.”
Due to a muscle injury, Mainoo is currently unable to play and has not participated in any games since the beginning of February.
