Kobbie Mainoo tells Chelsea the one thing that ‘needs to happen’ for him to leave Man Utd in sensational transfer

The one specific demand that Kobbie Mainoo has made in order to leave Manchester United and join Chelsea has been disclosed in a new report.

Since quite some time ago, Mainoo has been in the process of negotiating a new contract. He began his career by working his way up through the ranks at his boyhood club, and he went on to play sixty times for the first team.

In accordance with an agreement that he signed in February 2023, his current contract is set to expire in 2027. However, according to Capology, he continues to be one of United’s lowest-paid players, earning £20,000 per week while performing his duties.

Mainoo and the club are said to have opened fresh contract discussions, despite the fact that Mainoo is currently sidelined due to an injury. Both the England international and his camp are eager for a significant pay increase that is commensurate with the value that he brings to the club.

However, other clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation, with Chelsea showing a particularly strong interest in him and making “tentative contact” with his representatives.

The Blues were mentioned in January and have the potential to make another attempt to acquire Mainoo. Due to the fact that he is a homegrown player, the sale of Mainoo would result in a profit for United on their balance sheet.

On the other hand, according to GiveMeSport, Mainoo is requesting a weekly salary of approximately 180,000 pounds at United, and he would like to receive the same number of dollars at Stamford Bridge.

That would put him ahead of Cole Palmer, the talisman for Chelsea, who earns thirteen hundred and thirty thousand pounds per week in west London.

On the other hand, the demands might prevent Chelsea from making a deal because they might be reluctant to add another high-earner to their payroll that they already have to pay.

In the context of negotiations with United, it is asserted that all parties may very well reach a consensus on terms of a weekly salary of one hundred fifty thousand pounds, which would include bonuses.

Alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Mainoo is considered to be one of the most valuable assets that United possesses at the moment. It is estimated that his value is somewhere around 80 million pounds.

Providing an update on Mainoo, a journalist
Alex Crook of talkSPORT believes that the figure that has been mentioned in relation to Mainoo’s contract negotiations is actually much lower than the amount of £180,000 per week that has been mentioned.

It was emphasised by him that Mainoo does not want to leave United because he has a deep affection for the club; however, the situation does require a resolution as soon as possible.

The statement was made by him, as reported by United District. “I think it’s nearer £150,000 a week, but again, this is a sign that Manchester United are trying to trim the wage bill,” he said.

“We are aware that when Amad Diallo signed his new contract, the amount was only one hundred thousand dollars per week, and I say only in inverted commas. However, it is clear that this amount is significantly lower than what United has paid in the past.

A product of the academy, Mainoo is someone who has a deep affection for the football club. It is just a matter of coming to an agreement, reading the terms, and obviously there is also this PSR issue that United may have to address this summer. He wants to come back to Manchester United, but it is just a matter of coming to an agreement.
