Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has provided a significant update on the injury situation that his team is facing in advance of the weekend.
The Europa League match between Real Sociedad and Manchester United ended in a 1-1 draw on Thursday, a result that was yet another disappointment for United.
When it comes to the future, the Red Devils will be facing a significant challenge on Sunday, when they will be returning to Premier League action by playing Arsenal at Old Trafford.
In a press conference that took place before the match, Amorim provided updates on a number of United’s injured players and dropped hints that the young star Amad Diallo might make a comeback before the end of the season.
“I believe it is just Amad,” he said, referring to the player who “is out until the end of the season.” Even Amad, we will find out at the end of the month preceding this one. However, I have the hope that I will be able to have Amad before the end of the season. I do not want to say anything else.
“Lisandro (Martinez) has passed away. Kobbie (Mainoo) is able to come back. It is imperative that we exercise caution, (Harry) Maguire. Manu (Ugarte) will be coming back. I believe that Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are also able to come back. They are unquestionably going to come back, particularly Mason Mount.
Amorim did not have a particularly optimistic response when asked if any players could potentially return for the match against Arsenal.
This is what the forty-year-old said: “I don’t think so. Guys, once this season is over, I will be prepared for anything and everything. It’s a very positive thing!
We must make it through Sunday alive. The final twenty minutes of the match against Sociedad were a very trying time for the team. In order to get ready for this crucial game for our season, which will take place on Thursday, we need to prepare on Sunday. Regarding this very moment, I am unsure.”
Amorim continued by saying, “When you are in this kind of club, you cannot even consider the possibility of rotating with a select group of players at this time.” We are making an effort to see all of the players who are not currently suffering from any injuries and who are both fresh and healthy. In spite of this, we are going to have to take some risks, but ultimately, we have to be competitive on Sunday.
“Everyone is welcome to begin. If they are training tomorrow, if they play today, they can be ready and Chido (Obi) is on the list so he can play.”
