It is possible that Liverpool will have to persuade their star player Dominik Szoboszlai to remain with the club this summer, as a surprising club will strive to acquire his services during this summer.
Arne Slot has been nothing short of spectacular ever since he was brought on board at Liverpool in the summer to take over for the legendary Jurgen Klopp as the club’s manager.
While the Reds have advanced to the final of the Carabao Cup for the second year in a row, the Dutch manager has also led the team to the top of the group stage table in the Champions League and the Premier League table by a margin of thirteen points.
One of the most important aspects of Slot’s success at Anfield has been his capacity to further develop players who are already a part of the club. However, in the summer, he may have to contend with the possibility of a shock club showing interest in one of his top players.
Szoboszlai has been having the best season of his Liverpool career, scoring goals and earning the man of the match award in the 2-0 victories over Manchester City and Newcastle United. He has been enjoying the best of his performance.
However, according to a Spanish news outlet called Fichajes, Liverpool are not the only club that has been impressed by the midfielder’s recent form. Al Hilal, a Saudi Pro League club, is reportedly preparing a mega bid for the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that the club based in Riyadh is prepared to pay as much as €120 million (£100 million) in order to secure the signature of the Hungarian international during the summer. This is in an effort to continue their transfer policy of attracting high-profile players from other clubs that are among the most successful in the world.
Furthermore, the report asserts that Al Hilal are not the only club that is interested in making a move for the 24-year-old player, as a number of the “top teams” in Europe are also contemplating making a move for him.
During the first few months of Slot’s tenure as Liverpool manager, Szoboszlai had a difficult time establishing himself as a permanent member of the team. However, he has since established himself as an indispensable member of the squad and has started the last nine Premier League matches in a row.
Slot made the following statement in reference to the Szoboszlai and his recent performance after the victory over Newcastle: “[I’m] very pleased for him because he’s the type of player that always looks for a teammate in a better position than him if he has a chance.”
He is deserving of the praise that is currently being bestowed upon him. He was already given credit by me each and every time he played for us, but it is likely that he is receiving even more credit now from the individuals who are evaluating players not only based on their work rate but also on their goals and assists.
