Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Rangers have finally learnt the outcome of their Round of 16 2024/25 Europa League fixtures, following the draw at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. They are also aware of their individual routes to the final.
The top eight clubs from the new-look league phase, which is active across all European tournaments, qualified automatically for the Round of 16, and they were joined by another eight teams who secured passage through their two-legged knockout phase play-off matches.
According to tournament rules, the top eight teams from the league phase were seeded for the Round of 16 draw and would thus play the second leg of their two-legged match at home. Who will Ruben Amorim’s side face? Is Tottenham’s path to the final clear on paper? And who are the Rangers facing off against?
In the 2024/25 Europa League Round of 16, Manchester United will face Real Sociedad.
Bodo Glimt will face Greek club Olympiacos in the first two-legged Round of 16 encounter in Europe’s second tier competition, while Rangers, headed by Philippe Clement, will face Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
Tottenham will re-play their league phase match against AZ Alkmaar. A Richarlison penalty was the difference last time out, but the north Londoners will be looking to make things simpler this time around.
Meanwhile, Amorim and his companions will face Real Sociedad of Spain. Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax will also face off in a thrilling two-legged match, while FCSB will face Olympique Lyonnais.
The eight Europa League Round of 16 ties conclude with a match between Italian club Lazio and Viktoria Plzen, the Czech Republic’s sole representative. Another match to look forward to is between Athletic Club and AS Roma, two teams favoured to go to the competition’s knockout stages.

Draws for the 2024/25 Europa League Quarterfinals and Semifinals
Manchester United may, potentially, face Jose Mourinho in the semi-final.
After all of the remaining 16 teams learnt of their Round of 16 opponents, the coverage gave light on the rest of the competition, including who might face them in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final in Bilbao on May 21.
In theory, if the Red Devils win against Real Sociedad, they will face either FSCB (who they played against in the league phase) or Lyon. Tottenham might play Ajax or Frankfurt if they beat AZ Alkmaar again.
Rangers face Mourinho’s men in the Round of 16. Beyond that, they might face Athletic Club or AS Roma, while Lazio’s Last 16 tie could pit them against Bodo/Glimt or Olympiacos if they win.

Manchester United, if they advance to the semi-finals, may face Roma, Athletic Club, Fenerbahce, or Rangers, whilst Tottenham would (in theory) have a simpler path to the final: one of Lazio, Viktoria Plzen, Bodo/Glimt, or Olympiakos.
Finally, here it is. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to meet in an all-England final. Rangers, the Scottish Premiership’s juggernaut, might also face one of the teams on the other side of the Europa League draw.
