Marcus Rashford made his debut in the FA Cup on Sunday, after receiving a message from Jadon Sancho, a former teammate of his at Manchester United. Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan during the transfer window when the transfer window was open.
As a result of Jadon Sancho’s assertion that Marcus Rashford had been placed in a “free” position after his transfer to Aston Villa, Manchester United supporters are incensed.
Rashford posted a comment on Rashford’s Instagram account after Sancho made his debut for Villa, a club he has joined until the end of the season. Sancho is still under contract with United, but he is currently on loan at Chelsea. The forward entered the game in the second half of Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round victory over Tottenham, which resulted in a 2-1 victory for the team.
His last appearance was on December 12, when United manager Ruben Amorim decided to let him go. This was his first appearance since then. Even though he had been out of action for a considerable amount of time, Rashford appeared to be in good spirits during his brief appearance, which lasted for thirty minutes.
On his Instagram account, Rashford expressed his gratitude for the very warm welcome. “Great team performance.” Sancho posted the following in the responses: “Freedom.
His comment received more than seven thousand likes, but United supporters are not pleased with it. “This is so EMBARRASSING and UNPROFESSIONAL from Sancho,” one of Sancho’s supporters wrote on his profile. It is without a doubt one of the WORST football players who has ever played for us. The mentality and attitude that they possess is the worst I’ve ever seen.
“Pathetic isn’t it,” someone else who supports United wrote. “The audacity to say something like that on a public forum – they’re both still technically paid by us.”
“Can we return Sancho before he influences [Cole] Palmer?” asked a Chelsea supporter, who went on to ask the question.
In comparison to Sancho’s performance at Chelsea, Rashford will be hoping to have a more successful time with Villa. The winger, who was also loaned out to his former club Borussia Dortmund during the previous season, has only contributed one goal or an assist in his last eleven games. On Saturday, he started Chelsea’s game against Brighton, which they ultimately lost.
Villa boss Unai Emery, on the other hand, was pleased with how Rashford and fellow new signing Marco Asensio fared after coming off the bench against Tottenham. “Marcus Rashford and Asensio, we watched their skill and how they helped us and will help us again in the next months in the different competitions we will face,” Emery said.
“We are in a new way after the changes we did. We are demanding because we still need to improve due to some tactical issues and how we want to compete in the Premier League.”
Team-mate Morgan Rogers, the standout player in Villa’s win, added of Rashford and Asensio’s high-profile arrivals: “It pushes us along, we want to take what we can from the experienced players in the squad. It’s massive to have people like that in the building and hopefully we can just push each other.”
