Liverpool ‘ready to sign’ Barcelona superstar in stunning cut-price deal that would be the bargain of the summer

According to a new report, Liverpool are planning to initiate their summer transfer business by making a move for a Barcelona star at some point in the near future.

After Arne Slot took over as manager of the Reds in July, the team has not been particularly active in the market. They have only signed two players to permanent contracts during the summer window, and they have not signed any players during the winter window.

Instead, the Dutchman has focused primarily on utilising the resources that were available to him. He has transformed Ryan Gravenberch into an all-action defensive midfielder and assisted players such as Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz in increasing the number of goals that they contribute.

The Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi declined a move to Anfield, which caused Liverpool to abandon their initial plan to acquire a defensive midfielder during the summer. Liverpool had been interested in signing a defensive midfielder previously.

There have been rumours that the Spaniard could be moving to Arsenal before the start of the following season, despite the fact that he has previously declined a transfer to English football.

However, it has been reported that Liverpool is planning to make a bid for another long-term target who may be allowed to leave Barcelona in the summer before the summer arrives.

According to Caught Offside, the Reds are already making preparations to make a move for Frenkie de Jong, a midfielder, and the club believes that he may be available for a price of only €35 million (£29.3 million).

Beginning in 2021, when they were unable to register Lionel Messi’s new contract with La Liga, Barcelona is currently experiencing financial difficulties that have prevented them from registering players. These difficulties have prevented them from registering players overall.

The fact that De Jong is one of the highest earners at the club lends credence to the notion that he might be a candidate for departure. Liverpool is reportedly of the opinion that he might be available for transfer.

For a fee of €75 million in 2019, Barcelona was able to secure the services of the Dutchman, and his contract includes a release clause that is worth an astounding €400 million.

However, his current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, and within the past few months, De Jong has been in and out of the squad under the direction of Hansi Flick. It is possible that Liverpool will finally be able to bring the 27-year-old player to the Premier League after Manchester United has made multiple unsuccessful attempts to sign him.
