This will be my last season. She will leave Arsenal if they don’t give me these THREE things by the end of the season. If I don’t make this choice now, my future is in danger. William Saliba talks about the THREE reasons he will stay at Arsenal even though Real Madrid wants to sign him.
William Saliba, an Arsenal defender, has promised to stay with the club for a long time, even though Real Madrid is interested in signing him.
In recent years, Saliba has become one of the best center backs in the world. At the same time, injuries have left Madrid’s middle defense almost completely empty.
At the end of October, Antonio Rudiger, who plays center back for Real Madrid, said that Saliba was the player he would love to join the team and play with. But Saliba doesn’t seem to agree.
When asked about his plans for the future recently, Saliba said he had no plans to leave Arsenal, where his deal runs for another two seasons after this one.
“I joined the team five years ago, but this is only my third season,” he said. “I like the players, the staff, and the fans all together.” I feel at home, so why not stay for a long time?
Saliba is only 23 years old, but he had to wait a long time for his turn with Arsenal.
It cost £27 million to bring the French player in, just a few months after his 18th birthday. It made people look twice because he was an unknown star after only 19 first-team games for Saint-Etienne, where Arsenal loaned him out.
But France’s 2019–20 season was canceled because of the Covid-19 failure, and Saliba wasn’t even close to being a starter when he returned to Arsenal for 2020–21. In the first half of that season, he didn’t play for the first team and was only named in two matchday squads.
He then played every game for Nice during a loan deal that was made in January 2021. That summer, though, Saliba agreed to go on loan to Marseille in France. It looked like he would fall through the cracks at Arsenal. He did need the break, though.
Saliba won Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year award and was brought back into Arsenal’s first team by Mikel Arteta before the 2022–23 season. He made his debut against Crystal Palace, more than two years after joining the club. He quickly became such an important part of the team that Arsenal’s title hopes were dashed when he got hurt later in the season.
