Defensive star Ronald Araujo has been the subject of persistent transfer rumors, but Barcelona is poised to extend a fresh contract offer to him.
In his most recent Daily Briefing column, Fabrizio Romano updated CaughtOffside on the issue with Araujo, saying that the expectation has long been that Barça would negotiate a new deal with the Uruguayan international.
Araujo has been a key player for Barcelona for a while now, and he would undoubtedly be a great addition to top teams like Manchester United, who are in dire need of a central defender or two.
Though he appears to lack any substantial information regarding the player’s future at the moment, Romano has previously addressed United stories involving Araujo and acknowledged the links stemming from the fact that MUFC are considering center-backs.
As far as Romano is aware, “there are no updates or developments on Ronald Araujo’s future yet” when asked about Araujo’s status. Pedri, Araujo, Cubarsi, and many more will be among the contracts that Barcelona will review after they return to the pitch.
“Araujo is highly regarded by many clubs, but the long-standing expectation at Barça is that he will be offered a new deal.”
Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire are two players that United should consider replacing this summer. Neither of them has played up to his potential and has been in and out of Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup for the majority of the season.
