After Manchester United terminated their 380-day wait for a European victory against PAOK, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy praised the attitude and aptitude of match-winner Amad Diallo.
Ruben Amorim, the successor of Erik ten Hag, observed from a distance as the Red Devils recovered from their first three Europa League draws and achieved their first continental victory since October.
United’s new head coach was undoubtedly impressed by winger Diallo, who scored both goals in a 2-0 victory against the Greek champions and excelled on his first start in five weeks.
In the second half against PAOK, the 22-year-old superbly directed a header into the net, and he later calmed his nerves at Old Trafford by regaining possession and continuing to curl the ball into the net in a superb manner.
Van Nistelrooy stated following his penultimate match in command, “I believe the second goal contained everything that is Amad Diallo to me.”

Since joining United from Atalanta in January 2021, Diallo has experienced both highs and lows. Van Nistelrooy was impressed by the winger’s mentality.

“He demonstrates that attitude and extra effort in every training session.” He visits me each day following his training session, expressing his desire to perform additional finishing, crossing, and one-on-one exercises.
“What strategies can I employ to enhance my shooting skills?” “How can I enhance the quality of my heading?”etc., etc., etc.
“He is highly motivated to achieve the most from his career, as he is perpetually committed to learning, improving, and conducting himself in a professional manner.”
Despite the fact that he was unable to start in numerous games, he delivered an exceptional performance today, which made me thrilled for him.
Mason Mount replaced Diallo, the outstanding player, who hobbled off late in the second half to a standing ovation.
