Saudi Arabia may soon contact Arsenal as Saudi Pro League teams contemplate “lucrative” offers for two prominent members of Mikel Arteta’s team.
Edu and Arteta are planning for the summer as major Arsenal departures are conceivable.
With sporting director Edu acknowledging that he has already chosen his targets, the north Londoners’ summer window plans are already well under way.
Regarding Arsenal’s summer transfer plans to TNT, Edu stated, “I know what the fans are requesting, but we already have our targets.”
Since we create a lot of chances and score a lot of goals, I will be concerned if we don’t score many goals and create as many chances as we have planned.
“I believe we are in a good time, and the goal is to try to get better every year. See if we can continue to get better. Frequently, during certain chats to recruit players, you don’t see the player’s character or the player’s character doesn’t align with our goals. In these situations, you have to go on and try to find what we’re actually searching for.
“Everyone is nearly the same, young, passionate, and full of energy, and they are all talented with bright futures ahead of them, if you look at all the signings we’ve made since we first started together.”
According to some estimates, Arsenal may even break their summer transfer record when the window reopens. This would be quite an accomplishment given that they spent almost £208 million the previous season.
With both Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey’s futures in north London up in the air, Edu and Arteta are pursuing a prolific new striker for Arsenal as well as a central midfielder (Charles Watts).
Jesus, who paid almost £45 million to join from Man City in the summer of 2022, has only managed eight goals and seven assists in all competitions this season. If someone like reported target Viktor Gyokeres were to arrive, his spot would be strongly called into doubt.
Given that the Ghanaian’s contract is about to end next year, Arsenal is also willing to sell Partey for the right price. He has been a fantastic servant since the north Londoners paid his entire £45 million buyout clause to acquire him from Atletico Madrid in 2020, but he may be nearing the end of his Arsenal career.
Saudi teams are evaluating “lucrative” contract offers for Jesus and Partey.
Now making waves in the Middle East, the pair cost Arsenal a total of £90 million to sign.
Indeed, according to GiveMeSport, Saudi sides are considering “lucrative” contract offers to tempt Jesus and Partey away from Arsenal this summer, as they seek to add more big-name stars to their growing league.
Arteta’s side, for their part, are “willing to consider” offloading the pair – so it will be interesting to see if their exits could fund upgrades to the squad ahead of 2024/25.
