A worldwide tremor was observed by the seismographs of the U.S. Geological Survey on Wednesday at around 5:39 p.m. Eastern time.
Following a thorough study, it was determined that the temblor’s epicenter was located on Matt Busby Way, southwest of Manchester, England.
The Red Devils’ 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup marked the formal end of the Erik Ten Hag era, and tens of thousands of Manchester United supporters let out a huge sigh of relief.
The important questions now arise. Was Man United’s triumph a one-time outburst of happiness and energy, or was it a real indication of a better future? When United plays Chelsea on Sunday, will interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy even be present on the sidelines? (Details about the viewing and kickoff time are below.) Will Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting CP, be appointed in time?
Even while there are positive sentiments at Old Trafford right now, the club is still in disarray. Their points total is as near to the relegation zone as it is to fourth-place Aston Villa, and they are stuck in 14th place in the table.
They have only triumphed three times in the Premier League, and those victories came against Southampton, who are in last place, Fulham, who are in tenth place, and Brentford, who are in ninth place.
Fortunately for United, Alejandro Garnacho finally appears to feel at least a little at ease in the role of star. With a goal and assist against Leicester in the Carabao Cup and a goal against Brentford on October 19, he has performed admirably in four of his previous five games.
The 20-year-old only managed two shots in United’s 1-1 Europa League match with Fenerbahce on October 24, but he still contributed in other ways. He won seven of his twelve ground duels and completed 85 percent of his 20 passes.
Cole Palmer and Chelsea are riding high.
Against a competitive Chelsea team that has won eight of ten games in all competitions, Garnacho will need to be at the top of his form. They are one point behind Arsenal and Aston Villa in fifth place.
Cole Palmer of the Blues got a hockey assist in the 18th minute of their most recent Premier League match against Newcastle as he made a stunning long pass to Pedro Neto, who slid the ball across to Nicolas Jackson for the breakaway goal.
Palmer took center stage once more after Newcastle leveled the score. The game-winning goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory came just after halftime when he scooped up the ball close to the halfway line, drove into the area, and sent a directed missile past Nick Pope.
Three days later, Blues manager Enzo Maresca fell 2-0 to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup after rotating his team.
This season, Palmer has been a revelation. In 11 games, the 22-year-old has seven goals and five assists.
