‘Wise decision’ – Alan Shearer praises Scott McTominay for leaving Manchester United

Alan Shearer has expressed his admiration for Scott McTominay’s choice to leave Manchester United. He believes that McTominay’s decision to sever connections with his childhood club in the same summer was a “wise decision.”

After joining the United youth program when he was just five years old, McTominay went on to play for the Premier League giants for a total of 255 opportunities.

Twelve months after winning the English Football League Cup, the Scotland international played 37 games or more in five consecutive seasons and was a key contributor to Manchester United’s victory in the FA Cup by the end of the previous season.

McTominay was connected with Premier League rivals West Ham and Fulham until he concluded his lengthy tenure at Old Trafford by joining Napoli in a move for £25 million. During the summer, McTominay was basically placed up for sale by Manchester United, which resulted in interest from a number of teams.

In Naples, the 27-year-old has had a promising beginning to his career, scoring two goals in his first five outings to assist Antonio Conte’s team in climbing to the top of Serie A. This has been an encouraging accomplishment for the player.

McTominay gave the impression of being hesitant to leave Manchester United at first, but Shearer, a former striker for England, feels that it was “clearly the right decision,” particularly considering the fact that the Red Devils are still having a difficult time.

Despite the fact that McTominay is currently playing at the highest level of the Italian top division, his previous team is currently in 14th place in the Premier League with eight points after seven games.

“It was a wise decision for Scott McTominay to move countries and experience something different, not only on a football pitch but also in life,” Shearer said in an interview with Betfair. “It was a wise decision he made.”

When McTominay considers what Manchester United has accomplished this season, or more accurately, what they have not accomplished in terms of their performances on the field, I often find myself wondering what his thoughts are.

Because it appears that the transfer to Napoli is going well for him, Scott will look at himself and believe that he has made the proper decision because of the way things are going.

“He has already scored a couple of goals, he is developing a good relationship with Romelu Lukaku, and it appears that he is enjoying it, so from his point of view, it is clear that he has made the right decision to leave Manchester United,” the statement continued.

As a result of United’s poor start to the season, there has been renewed questioning about the future of manager Erik ten Hag. However, former manager David Moyes has praised the Dutchman and asserted that he is “doing a brilliant job.”

Having been there myself, I can attest to the fact that it is an incredible club that is under a great deal of strain. According to Moyes, who spoke to BBC Sport, “everyone wants to talk about it.”

“In my opinion, it is the most prestigious club in the entire world, and it is talked about in every city that you visit.” In other words, it is inevitable, and Manchester United is eager to emerge victorious.

“Those who are rooting for you want to prevail.” In addition, every manager who enters the position has the goal of achieving success. When you start working in a profession like that, you should expect it to stay like that for the rest of your life. It is quite challenging.

“Manchester United is an outstanding club that is watched and supported by people from all over the world.” Since this is the case, there is always the possibility that you may be subjected to some criticism if you do not do well in the task at hand.
