Napoli boss Antonio Conte plotting January transfer move for Chelsea outcast Ben Chilwell

Ben Chilwell, a left-back who is now out of favor at Chelsea, is a player who Napoli are considering acquiring during the January transfer window. Antonio Conte is reported to be a fan of Chilwell from Chelsea.

Since Enzo Maresca was appointed as manager of Chelsea in June, Chilwell has been excluded from the club’s first-team plans. The defender has been strongly urged to find a new club, and this encouragement has been given in no unclear terms.

The weeks that followed saw Chilwell being listed as a member of Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad,” which also featured players such as Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Cesare Casadei. Chilwell was also a member of Chelsea’s “bomb squad.”

Even though Chilwell made an unexpected cameo as a substitute in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup triumph over Barrow, the 27-year-old is eager to find a way out of Stamford Bridge in order to gain regular playing time elsewhere. Chilwell’s goal is to acquire a position where he can play regularly elsewhere.

According to The Sun, Chilwell is “expected” to leave Chelsea in January, and Napoli are keeping a close eye on the full-back in accordance with the directives of head coach Conte, who was Chelsea’s manager from 2016 to 2018. Conte is reported to be a “huge fan” of Chilwell.

There is a potential that Napoli will sign Chilwell on a loan deal initially, with the option to purchase the player outright at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season.

On the other hand, Napoli will not have a free run at Chilwell since Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich, all of which are Premier League clubs, are all prepared to make a move for the England international during the winter holiday season.

Despite Maresca’s suggestion that Chilwell may be welcomed back into the fold, the article asserts that Chilwell continues to have severe “concerns” about the fact that he has not been playing enough minutes for Chelsea.

For the time being, we are in need of him; why not? The statement was made by Maresca after Chelsea defeated Barrow by a score of 5-0.

It is something that I have stated several times before, and I will reiterate it once more: Chilly is a Chelsea player for as long as he is with us. And if we find ourselves in need of him, we give him a chance and a few minutes.Marc Cucurella has established himself as Chelsea’s left defender, starting all seven of the club’s matches in the English top division this season. This comes after Cucurella had a challenging beginning to his life in west London.

Chilwell’s current deal with the Blues is still active for another three years, hence he cannot be released.

Following his transfer to Chelsea in 2020 for a sum estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of fifty million pounds, Chilwell has gone on to make 107 appearances for the club across all competitions.

While playing with the team that won the Champions League in 2021 under the direction of Thomas Tuchel, the former Leicester star was an essential component of the squad. He participated in all bar three of the club’s matches during their successful season.
