6 First-Team Liverpool Players Risk Not Getting Premier League Winner’s Medal

For the second time in their history, Liverpool formally proclaimed themselves the Premier League champions in April 2025. With four games remaining, they won their 20th English Premier League trophy, and Arsenal was no longer mathematically able to catch up.

In what was a happy event for the team, Arne Slot’s team defeated Spurs 5-1 at Anfield to reach the finish line. All Reds supporters will be thrilled by it, although some team members could be a little uncomfortable.

Since winning the Premier League is a difficult task and Liverpool has only won it once, all of the senior players will be vying for a winner’s medal in May. However, this might not be feasible for six first-team players.

Must play at least five games

Federico Chiesa, who signed in the summer, is the most prominent player who might be overlooked. He is now one game away from qualifying as he has only participated in four league games this season, against Fulham, Ipswich, Brentford, and Bournemouth. Despite having the game and the league won, Slot didn’t even get him any minutes against Spurs, keeping him on the bench.

Despite their youth, the other names are less well-known yet are all first-team players. Despite not playing in the league this season, Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni, and James McConnell have represented the senior squad in other tournaments.

When both Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher were sidelined for the October encounter against Crystal Palace, Vitezslav Jaros got a rare opportunity in goal, but he is unlikely to get any further playing time.

Lastly, despite playing one game earlier in the season, Jayden Danns has no chance of making it to five. This is because he is now on loan at Sunderland, a Championship team, where the young player has regrettably been plagued by injuries.

Rule Means All Six Could Still Get Medals

40 medals on offer, although more can be granted

But even if the players don’t make five league appearances, they still have a chance to win a medal because the Premier League awards the winners 40 commemorative medals, each measuring 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) in diameter and made of silver. The winning club can award the medals to any player, coach, or official as long as each player who made at least five Premier League appearances during the championship season receives one, and the Premier League Board can request and award additional medals if more than 39 players made at least five league appearances during the campaign.
