50 Football Clubs in the World That Have Won the Most League Titles

Although it’s not the ultimate goal, winning league titles can determine a team’s reputation in the community at large. People usually know one or two clubs, even if they are not well-informed about a more unusual league. This is generally because of the clubs’ startling trophy winning rate.

Winning a league title is not as simple as it may seem, regardless of whether it is the Premier League or the less well-known Uruguayan Primera Division. All teams, usually between 12 and 24, have the same goal: to win a championship at the end of the season.

However, some teams will play their entire season without winning the national championship, while others do so as if it were becoming obsolete. In light of this, which international football teams have easily dominated their respective divisions? There aren’t any English teams included, spoiler alert.

Malta, Bulgaria, and Iceland teams make the cut 50–41.

One of the oldest professional clubs in the Faroe Islands, Havnar Boltfelag, will begin the proceedings. Since its founding in 1904, they have dominated the Faroe Islands Premier League, taking home the trophy an impressive 24 times.

With a combined total of 25 league titles as of this writing, Valletta of Malta, PSV Eindhoven of the Eredivisie, Ilienne Amatuer of Saint-Pierre, and Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel’s top division all demonstrate a certain degree of dominance in their respective divisions.

Turkey’s Galatasaray has also won 25 league championships. Since its founding in 1905, the Super Lig team has experienced great domestic success, which is evidenced by the fact that it is consistently stacked with teams like Fenerbahce (more on them later) and Besiktas.

The only other title has been won by the Maltese team Silema Wanderers, who frequently face off against the previously mentioned Valletta. Levski Sofia of Bulgaria has also won 26 league titles in its history. But with 27 apiece, KR Reykjavik and FSCB end the decade.

Fenerbahce and Barcelona kick off this category

As was previously said, Fenerbahce, currently led by the mysterious Jose Mourinho, is the most decorated team in Turkey, having won 28 league titles. They have also managed to equal Barcelona’s total, which is a remarkable accomplishment.

Although La Blaugrana has won Spain’s top division 28 times, they have not been as successful as Lincoln Red Imps, ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine, and Cyprus’ APOEL. The four teams mentioned here have won 29 league titles.

Boavista was the final team outside of “The Big Three”—Sporting CP, Benfica, and Porto—to win the Portuguese championship in 2000–01. We realise it’s crazy, but that’s because the three has dominated. That also includes Porto’s thirty goals.

The 1935-founded Ethiopian club Saint George, Slovan Bratislava, who frequently play in the Champions League as Slovakia’s bright spot, and Bulgaria’s outstanding team, CSKA Sofia, round up the 40-31 category with 31 league titles apiece.

Bayern Munich is one of four teams that have won 34

Remember that all ten of the teams in this section have won more than thirty league crowns. Comunicaciones has achieved the remarkable achievement of winning the Guatemalan championship 32 times, whereas teams like Rapid Wien (Austria) and Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi (Finland) have one more prize in their trophy cabinet.

Currently, four teams have an impressive 34 league titles: Bahrain’s Al-Muharraq, Belgium’s top division team Anderlecht, and Chile’s Colo-Colo. They joined Bayern Munich, the most successful team in the history of the Bundesliga and a dominant force in the Champions League.

Situated in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, Ferencvaros and success go hand in hand, as seen by their 35 league titles, which is equal to the number won by Boca Juniors, who are arguably most known for their evocative style, in Argentina.

20-11 Real Madrid is still the most decorated team in Spain.

Even though Dinamo Zagreb’s 2011–12 squad was among the poorest in Champions League history, they have always been a formidable domestic football team. And their 35 Croatian top flight titles serve as proof of that.

Red Star Belgrade, one of the best-supported teams in international football, has won 36 league titles so far, while Al-Faisaly has also won. As have Ajax in the Netherlands and Juventus in Italy. For Real Madrid, the same is true.

With 36 trophies under their belt, Los Blancos—whose well-known speciality is the Champions League—are Spain’s most decorated team, but they don’t play against River Plate and Sparta Prague, who now have 38 titles each.

Liga Portugal is hard to win, even if it isn’t considered to be among the “top five European leagues,” yet Benfica, situated in Lisbon, has a history of easily defeating their rivals. The Costa Rice team, Saprissa, has won 40 league titles since its founding.

Scottish Premiership: 10-1 Rangers and Celtic both have

We now move on to the world football teams who consistently win; these are the teams that consistently rank at the top of their respective divisions year after year. South China, based in Hong Kong, has won 41 league championships.

Based on honours, Ah Ahly is widely regarded as one of the most successful football teams in the world. Over the course of their existence, they have won 123 trophies, 44 of which have been league titles. They are only one win shy of Olimpia.

Uruguay’s top division teams, Nacional and Penarol, frequently compete to win, but with 54 league titles under their belt, the latter presently has the right to boast. Nacional (49) and Olympiacos of Greece (48) are not far behind.

Many people consider the rivalry between Celtic and Rangers to be among the most intense in all of football, and the two Scottish teams have won 55 league titles between them. Standing taller than the others is Linfield, a Northern Irish team that has won 57 league titles since its founding in 1886.
