4 years contract agreed: Arsenal have reached the final stage to sign £60m sensational – Edu is now ready to cook this season

It would seem that a manager dispelling speculations about his club seeking to purchase a player from there by coming out in public and denying any interest he has in any player there.

Real Sociedad and Unai Emery haven’t been like that. In a previous summer interview with the Spanish media, the Aston Villa manager stated unequivocally that he wants no players at La Real. Since the Basque performed well there as a player and would probably manage the team before he quits, it was somewhat personal for him.

In spite of this, Mikel Merino has been connected to both Arsenal and Aston Villa in stories over the past week.

The contract for the Spanish midfielder, whose deal expires in less than a year, is becoming more and more in demand. Real Sociedad has proposed a renewal, but it isn’t deemed sufficient, therefore a sale is still an option.
According to the Basque edition of Mundo Deportivo, Merino may sign a “contract of a lifetime” at Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta’s interest seems to be cause for concern.

Another mention of Aston Villa’s interest is made, and it’s hinted that Emery might not have been telling the whole truth when he said he wasn’t interested in any Real Sociedad players.

Although it is still early, Arsenal appears more likely than Aston Villa, particularly given that the latter is in the midst of acquiring Amadou Onana.

It’s interesting to note that Barcelona, who were reportedly considering the Everton player as well, is reportedly keeping an eye on the Merino circumstance.
