Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim term as Manchester United manager continues with a challenging Premier League test against Chelsea.
The club legend has stepped up following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, as the club finalizes an agreement to appoint Ruben Amorim, who is slated to take over in November.
That leaves Van Nistelrooy in charge of the Blues’ visit, having begun his tenure as manager with a 5-2 victory against a much-changed Leicester City team in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Sunday is a much stiffer test, but there may not be many changes. Some players, including Altay Bayındır, Victor Lindelof, and Joshua Zirkzee, may be replaced by Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, and Rasmus Hojlund. However, the majority of the roster may remain unchanged.
Casemiro scored twice, including a magnificent opener, while Bruno Fernandes added a brace either side of Alejandro Garnacho’s goal in the defeat of the Foxes, and all three should remain.
Manuel Ugarte may face his position under threat by Christian Eriksen, while Amad Diallo will hope for more minutes.
Predicted Manchester United lineup: Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Ugarte, Fernandes; Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho.
Injured: Mainoo, Maguire, Yoro, Shaw, Malacia, Mount, Antony.
Time and date: 4.30pm GMT, Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Venue: Old Trafford.
