According to reports, Manchester United could offload one of their highest-earning stars in the final days of the transfer window, with £200,000-a-week goalkeeper Andre Onana surprisingly ending up on the shortlist of West Ham United, who have already struggled defensively this season.
According to United In Focus, the Red Devils are looking closely at the goalkeeping situation, and after manager Ruben Amorim chose Altay Bayindir over Onana, his departure is expected in the last days of the transfer window.
Report: Man United’s Onana ‘Holds Talks’ With West Ham

Senne Lammens is one name that has been associated with the Red Devils this summer as United look to enhance their goalkeeping corps, and the Belgian was left out of Royal Antwerp’s squad over the weekend ahead of his possible move to the Theatre of Dreams.
And as a result, intermediaries are in ‘active talks’ with a number of teams about a loan deal for Onana, with West Ham among those interested in the Cameroonian’s talents.
The Hammers have already signed Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen in recent weeks, but he’s had a nightmare start to life in east London, having been bullied by Chelsea and Sunderland in their first two games, and that could force manager Graham Potter into action with only six days left in the transfer window.
Onana’s standing has also shifted in the last week. While he was not called up to face Arsenal and understood why, his absence from the squad to face Fulham is reported to have surprised him and other teammates.
Given how United are doing with Lammens, Onana is actively exploring his options and is prepared to quit the club alongside Alejandro Garnacho – and the Belgian might step in to become Amorim’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The Onana began his career with Barcelona at the age of 14, before moving on to Ajax at the age of 19, where he established himself in the Eredivisie. After 214 appearances for the Dutch club, including a Champions League final, he moved to Inter Milan as one of the best goalkeepers on the continent in 2022, making another final in Europe’s biggest competition – though another loss saw him move to United, where he has struggled over the last two years.
