The same can be said about West Ham United’s Alphonse Areola and Ipswich Town’s Arijanet Muric. Since the campaign began, the two have had difficulty pulling up trees, and as a result, their respective sides are having difficulties.
After a disastrous tenure at Real Madrid, Kepa Arrizabalaga, still the most expensive custodian purchase in football history, unable to light up Stamford Bridge and is currently playing for Bournemouth. His current ranking is 17th.
Although Robert Sanchez of Chelsea has returned to his position in goal in west London, he is still ranked 16th, and many supporters want to see the Blues acquire a new custodian. Despite playing for Leicester City, who are in danger of relegation, Mads Hermansen has performed well in goal for the Foxes and is now in 15th place.
Bart Verbruggen and Aaron Ramsdale are ranked 13th and 14th, respectively, and the former is hoping to go better at Southampton. But the latter is enjoying a strong season with Brighton & Hove Albion. Bernd Leno and Dean Henderson, who rank 11th and 12th, respectively, complete the bottom half of the list.

This season, Thomas Frank’s Brentford has managed to function above their station, even after losing several quality players over the years, including Ivan Toney. Although the manager deserves much of the credit, Mark Flekken in goal deserves some recognition as well.
According to his WhoScored rating, the goalie is the best custodian in the Premier League this season and has done a fantastic job taking David Raya’s place for the Bees. Without Flekken in goal, the team would undoubtedly be in much worse shape right now.

Jordan Pickford’s fortunes have drastically changed since the 2024–25 season began. He might have ranked even higher on this list without it. Last season, the England number one finished second in the Golden Glove race, marking his finest club season to date. This was an an accomplishment considering Everton was fighting relegation.
Pickford returned to Goodison Park after another summer in which he came dangerously close to winning an international championship. With a -10 goal differential, he may now be in the middle of another relegation scrap. But without Pickford, things would be considerably worse for the Toffees. Hugo Lloris, a long-time player, was replaced by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 after the Frenchman made a number of mistakes during the previous season. After Guglielmo Vicario took his place, he finally joined LA FC in America. Few supporters had heard of him before he was signed from Empoli, but he has made an impression since making his debut away to Brentford in August.
He has demonstrated a great combination of shot-stopping skills and the ability to play sweeper-keeper during his successful Premier League debut. Nottingham Forest
When it comes to surpassing their expectations, Nottingham Forest has blown everyone away this season. They have flipped their goals around and are riding high at the top of the table going into the second half of the season after barely escaping relegation in the previous two campaigns. Due in great part to Matz Sels’ excellent play for them, they have the second-best defensive record in the league.
Since moving to the Midlands, the goalie has been a revelation, frequently playing the hero with some incredible saves to keep his team in games. Over the past 12 months, his stock has increased significantly, and he could move up the list if he continues to play well.

Newcastle United
Despite being lower in the England hierarchy than Pickford, Nick Pope is currently the best player our nation has to offer. The English powerhouse filled the void admirably and quickly became a fan favourite after Newcastle United decided to acquire the former Burnley player during the 2022 summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old helped the Magpies finish with the league’s joint-best defence by keeping an incredible 14 clean sheets in his 37 league outings during his rookie season. He played a significant role in Newcastle’s first Champions League qualifying since 2003.
The Englishman missed much of the next season due to injuries, but he was back to his best at the beginning of this one. Pope’s consistency and dependability will be essential to the Geordies’ prospects of returning to Europe this season, even though his distribution isn’t the finest.
