Over the years, the Premier League has seen a lot of talented wingers. From the competition’s fastest players to widemen with a wealth of trickery, to those with excellent final products, and occasionally even having all three of these qualities.
Throughout the Premier League era, some exceptional wingers have produced dozens of beautiful moments. It might be a long-range goal, a cross or ball that is laser-guided for an assist, or a deft dribble where someone has taken on the entire defence and still scored. There are many excellent left-wingers to pick from, but our goal is to identify the best in Premier League history.

10Leroy Sané

Before sustaining an ACL injury during the 2019–20 season, the German winger was utterly destructive for Manchester City. He could operate from either the left or right wing, but he took advantage of the opponents on both sides by using his extraordinary speed, vision, and shooting prowess.
Sané frequently completed opportunities on the box’s edge with a strong driven shot into the bottom corners thanks to his lightning-fast left foot. To complete the motion, he would slide a delicate pass beyond the defensive line to his teammates if the shot wasn’t available.
9Marc Overmars

During his best years, Marc Overmars was the ideal winger because of his quick speed and ability to dribble past any defender. He was a problem for defenders because he could shoot or cross with either foot, especially when they were also dealing with the skill of Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry.
Despite only spending three years with Arsenal, the Dutchman had a number of highlights, especially during the 1997–98 season when Arsenal won their first league title since 1991. He finished with 25 goals and 27 assists in a century of games.
8David Ginola

In the mid to late 1990s, the Premier League had some incredible players, and David Ginola was one of them. During his time at Newcastle United and Tottenham, the Frenchman’s deft touch made several excellent defenders seem foolish. He frequently took on two or three players with his superb dribbling skills before curling the ball into the far corner from the box’s edge.
Even though Ginola doesn’t have any outstanding stats or a Premier League championship, he did have some outstanding individual performances throughout his best years in the top division. The legendary Johan Cruyff even asserted in 1999 that Ginola was the world’s top player.
7Gareth Bale

After establishing himself at Spurs, Gareth Bale paid an incredible £85.1 million to join Real Madrid in 2013. When Bale joined Tottenham in 2007, Harry Redknapp changed his starting position from left-back to left-winger, and he never looked back.
The Welshman has the strength to go along with his lightning-fast speed. As a result, he was able to bomb down the flank, slicing by everyone before completing a move. Bale was also endowed with exceptional long-range shooting skills, which enabled him to score spectacular goals from both free-kick and 25-yard range.
Bale scored 42 goals in the Premier League during his first stint with Tottenham Hotspur. In September 2020, he returned to Spurs on a season-long loan, adding another 11 goals to his total.
6Heung-min Son

Heung-min With 127 goals and 71 assists in 329 games, Son has been a fixture in the Premier League for ten years and has developed into one of the most reliable players in recent memory.
For years, Son has wowed his opponents with his quickness, burst of speed, and ability to score goals or deliver crosses with either foot. During his stay in England, he has also contributed in pivotal occasions. A Premier League trophy is the only thing lacking from the South Korean’s resume, which is absurd to ponder given that he and Harry Kane scored hundreds of goals between them in their nine seasons together.
5Raheem Sterling

Given his incredible four Premier League winners’ medals, one may argue that Raheem Sterling should be higher on this list. However, it’s hard to rank him higher than Sadio Mané (spoiler warning) because the Senegal international had a greater impact on Liverpool than Sterling had on the Manchester City squads that featured players like Sergio Agüero, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Yaya Toure, Leroy Sané, and Riyad Mahrez.
That being said, we cannot discount his remarkable Premier League accomplishments and his current total of 123 goals.
During his time at Manchester City, Sterling was able to make late, darting runs into the penalty area for cutbacks because of his amazing speed and high game intelligence. And he would usually complete those opportunities.
After his career took a turn for the worst after leaving City, Sterling is currently on loan at Arsenal from Chelsea. He is still among the most productive wingers in the history of the league, though.
4Sadio Mané

Sadio Mané was excellent at Liverpool, but it’s possible that Mohamed Salah, his partner on the other wing, frequently obscured his genius. In either case, we can all now reflect on the career the Senegalese player built throughout his Premier League tenure.
Sadio Mané’s speed, technique, and finishing ability made him a continual threat on the left wing for Liverpool. Mane would frequently make diagonal runs in behind the defensive line from the left, hook onto through balls, and then deliver the game-ending blow while in the front three, which included Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. In the 2019–20 season, Liverpool won the Premier League thanks to this trio.
Compared to other wingers, his goal ratio of 111 goals in 263 appearances is among the highest in Premier League history.
3Robert Pirès

The Frenchman was a key member of Arsenal’s Invincibles in the 2003–04 season, which was one of the best seasons in the history of the game. For that Gunners team, players like Freddie Ljungberg, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, and Robert Pirès were all very frightening when they combined to attack.
Throughout his six-year Premier League career, Pires amassed 42 assists and 62 goals thanks to his exceptional technical skills in dribbling, crossing, and shooting, as well as his accompanying vision.
Even though he owns two Premier League winners’ medals, the Invincibles season’s is perhaps the most memorable.
2Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard, who was instrumental in Chelsea’s victories in 2014–15 and 2016–17, is regarded as the second-best left-winger in Premier League history.
Despite the opposition knowing what the Belgian wanted to achieve, he was unstoppable for a significant portion of his Chelsea tenure. Hazard consistently managed to cut inside onto his stronger right foot out on the left flank, either creating for his teammates or scoring for himself. He had exceptional speed, dribbling, vision, and finishing ability.
Few wingers in Premier League history have had as much of an impact on the Chelsea club between 2012 and 2019 as he did, despite his 85 goals and 54 assists being dwarfed by those on this list.
Hazard is regarded as one of the most talented football players in Premier League history and is a naturally gifted player.
1Ryan Giggs

None other than Ryan Giggs could have been number one, could he? One of the best players in the history of the league, the Welshman played his whole 23-year career at Manchester United, where he won an incredible 13 Premier League trophies.
Despite lacking scary speed or even cunning, Giggs’ exceptional ball control and agility enabled him to dribble past opponents while changing direction. In addition, he had remarkable endurance, which allowed him to play at a fast pace for the whole of games.
Giggs’ Premier League totals of 108 goals and 167 assists are just amazing, but what really elevates his illustrious career is how long he played.
