10 Coolest Adidas Kits in Football History [Ranked]

Football and Adidas have a long history together. Great players throughout history have worn their three-striped footwear to World Cups and Champions League finals. For fifty years, their football uniforms have also been a mainstay of the sport. The majority of supporters have worn at least one Adidas uniform over the years.

Therefore, choosing the Adidas uniforms that have stood out the most over the years is no simple feat. and was notable for being cool as well. It isn’t what a kit would be regarded as when more synthetic nylon was used and design was given more consideration. This began in the latter part of the 1970s. These are the top ten most stylish Adidas football uniforms in history, albeit many will disagree with the final selections.

Rating criteria
Legacy: The quality of the squad wearing a jersey determines whether or not it looks stylish.
Style: A kit can look fantastic with the correct colour and design combination.
Magic moments: unique occasions when the outfit was worn can add to its allure.

10Luton Town

1982/83

Over the years, Luton Town has used a multitude of uniforms, with home shirts alternating between orange and white. The essence of vintage Adidas can be found in this 1983 endeavour. It’s the perfect top to flaunt your guns—or even your tan—thanks to its tight neckline and high, short sleeves.

In the 1980s, Luton Town was also a formidable force in the top division of England. This outfit was worn a few years prior to Luton’s ground being covered with artificial turf instead of grass. However, Kenilworth Road continues to be regarded as one of the most distinctive stadiums in the history of British football.

9Liverpool

1989 to 1990

Liverpool won the league title back when they wore this flashing red-flame jersey. In 1990, that is. At the time, Liverpool supporters would have believed you were crazy if you had told them they would have to wait 30 years to win the English championship again.

This was the uniform worn prior to the installation of seats for Anfield’s Kop. Legends like Ian Rush, John Barnes, and Ray Houghton were applauded from those terraces as they triumphed over the disappointment of losing the 1989 season finale against Arsenal. Additionally, it was the final uniform before Kenny Dalglish departed as manager of the team in 1991.

8Ajax

2002/2003

Adidas’ red and white uniform has been a classic since the twenty-first century, even if Ajax didn’t start wearing them until then. Ajax won the European Cup three times in a row in the 1970s. The team’s best player, Johan Cruyff, wore one of the most recognisable uniforms in football history.

With his slim, sleek red strip, the 2002–03 shirt was somewhat reminiscent of that outfit. Not to add the sponsor’s odd vertical layering. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored five goals for Ajax in the Champions League that season, also wore the shirt.

7Arsenal Away

1991 to 1993

Since their victory against Liverpool in the 1971 FA Cup final, Arsenal has been recognised for wearing yellow away uniforms. They won the double that season. This kit had a spin on yellow. In the splash of colour, the red club badge and JVC sponsor competed for attention with the black chevrons that ran over the yellow shirt.

George Graham was the Gunners’ manager at the time. Ian Wright was also very active for the Gunners during this time. In a 4-0 victory over Southampton, he scored all four of Arsenal’s goals while wearing the jersey. Even though it wasn’t considered a classic at the time, it has gained some recognition in recent years.

6Argentina Away

1990 World Cup

Argentina switched to Adidas in 1990 from La Coq Sportif, which they wore to win the World Cup in 1986. The Argentines had again another excellent campaign, making it to the final once more. But this time, they lost the final to West Germany 1-0.

In the final, Argentina wore their away uniform. Thus, they wore this dark royal blue shirt in place of the sky blue and white stripes. Football supporters were reminded of Diego Maradona’s 1986 jersey when he scored the century-winning goal against England when they saw him in this colour. This altered jersey was nearly Maradona’s superhero attire. However, Maradona actually won every shirt that way. A fantastic-looking uniform, with either black or white shorts, especially with Maradona playing in the middle.
