🚨 Breaking News: Rangers F.C have officially sacked manager Russell Martin just hours after their frustrating draw against Falkirk 😳

Okay, that was quick. Rangers have now officially confirmed that Russell Martin has been fired as manager of the club after the team failed to fulfil expectations. He lasted only 123 days in the role and will be remembered as one of the worst appointments in Ibrox history. Celtic fans had hoped to see him in charge for a bit longer, but that was not to be.

Martin was in control of Rangers earlier today, when they drew 1-1 away at Falkirk. And, while it had previously been stated that the club supported the manager, their patience ran out just a few weeks later.

This is the worst conceivable beginning to the 49ers’ era. Their initial managerial appointment turned out to be utterly inappropriate. Celtic now lead the title race by nine points, despite Brendan Rodgers’ team being absolutely out of form.

The key question is whether Martin’s coaching contributed to the team’s poor start to the season. Or do the Rangers lack a capable team at Ibrox? Celtics fans will be hoping for the latter.

Rangers fire Russell Martin; Celtic fans respond.
Naturally, Celtic fans reacted quickly to the news of Martin’s dismissal. One wrote, “Thanks for the memories, Russell. Brendan Rodgers has seen another manager off.”

Another expressed a similar feeling, writing, “Thanks for the memories, Russell, you will be sorely missed.”

It remains to be known who the Rangers will bring in to replace Martin. It is definitely not an appealing job right now.

The Rangers have fired their manager for the fourth season in a row. Nobody seemed to be getting the job done at Ibrox. And it isn’t always about the head coach.

There appear to be larger difficulties at the club. Of course, Celtic have their own, which should be their primary concern right now.
