Sven-Goran Eriksson, 76, died after a long fight with cancer, according to his family. He was the manager of both England and Manchester City.

Eriksson died early Monday morning. He was England’s manager from 2001 to 2006. The Swede told everyone in January that he had pancreatic cancer that would kill him and that he had “at best” a year to live.
Eriksson’s family said in a statement, “SGE died of a long illness this morning at home with his family by his side.” Daughter Lina, son Johan with wife Amana and grandchild Sky, father Sven, girlfriend Yanisette with son Alcides, and brother Lars-Erik with wife Jumnong are the people who are closest to the family. The family wants to mourn in private and not be called, so please do not bother them.Eriksson was England’s first manager who wasn’t British. During his five-year tenure, he led the Three Lions to the quarterfinals of three big tournaments. He left the job after the 2006 World Cup.
Eriksson sent an emotional farewell message to the football world a few days ago. This moving message was taken from the Amazon Prime documentary “Sven.”
“My life was good. “I think we’re all afraid of the day we die, but life is also about death,” Eriksson says at the end of the film. “You need to learn to take things as they are.” That’s the goal: for some people to say, “Yeah, he was a good man,” but not all of them will.
“I hope you’ll remember me as a good person who did everything he could.” Don’t feel bad, just smile. Thank you to the teachers, players, and fans for making it a great time. Take care of your life and yourself. “And live it.”
During his great time as a manager, he led 12 different clubs to 18 trophies, including Man City and Lazio. Eriksson was able to manage Liverpool, which was his dream, in March. He led the Reds to a 4–2 win over Ajax in a legends match.
